Amara's POV
Monica broke down completely. "Phineas, it's her. She's the one who attacked Penelope. I was trying to get justice, and she had the nerve to strike me right here in the police station! Just look at what she did to my face—"
"Shut up!" Phineas's voice dropped to barely a whisper. Monica must have assumed he was embarrassed by her public breakdown because she quickly dried her tears.
She pressed on desperately. "Her attacking Penelope is a slap in your face. If you don't make her pay for this, everyone will think you're weak—"
"I told you to shut up!" Phineas jerked his hand away from her grasp.
"Making this kind of scene over something so petty? I think we should let this go. Children have disagreements. Do you really need to blow this out of proportion?"
He didn't wait for her response before turning to leave. I could tell Phineas was banking on me not recognizing him.
After all, he'd barely spoken two words at last night's party.
