When Law headed toward the forest, he quietly activated his Devil Fruit abilities the moment he stepped beneath the trees.
He focused his power into his right eye, enhancing his vision. His sight sharpened, allowing him to notice even the smallest details as he carefully moved forward, constantly scanning his surroundings.
When he reached the deeper part of the forest, Law noticed something unusual on a tree. There were deep claw marks carved into the bark. These were not ordinary marks—the size alone told him that the creature which left them was enormous.
Law followed the trail cautiously.
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed through the forest.
He turned toward the sound and soon saw the source—a massive black bear tearing into another animal. Its fur was dark, its muzzle stained red with blood. The moment the bear noticed Law, it let out a furious roar and charged straight at him, intent on killing.
Law did not panic.
Instead, he calmly took a stance, gripping the old sword in his hand.
"ROOM."
A blue spherical space instantly expanded around him.
Until now, Law had only used his cutting abilities on objects—trees, stones, buildings. He had never used them on a living creature. But this time, he did not hesitate.
The bear entered the sphere.
With a swift swing of his sword, Law sliced through one of the bear's front legs, separating it cleanly. The bear had not expected this at all. Losing its balance, it collapsed onto the ground, staring at Law with shock and fear in its eyes.
Law said nothing.
He raised his sword again and continued.
Moments later, it was over.
The bear lay motionless, its life completely extinguished. Law deactivated his ability, took a deep breath, and decided to end the hunt. He lifted the massive body and began dragging it back home.
Wolf had been waiting anxiously the entire time. He knew very well how dangerous the creatures in the forest could be. When he finally saw Law returning—dragging the corpse of a gigantic bear—Wolf froze in shock.
But he quickly regained his composure and rushed over to help.
Law looked at him and said calmly,
"Wolf-san, look what I caught. I think we'll be having bear meat for dinner today."
Wolf stared at the corpse in disbelief.
"You did well, Law. Hunting a beast like this… it's incredible."
When Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin saw the dead bear, they nearly fainted on the spot.
Time passed.
Another year went by, and the year 1514 began.
Law continued training relentlessly—physically and with the sword.
Law's thoughts:
It's been four years since I arrived in the world of One Piece. Over these years, I've learned to use the Ope Ope no Mi properly, and I've even developed several techniques on my own. One of them allows me to channel electricity into my sword. It's one of my favorite abilities—it can paralyze enemies and leave them completely defenseless.
After finishing his training, Law prepared to head into the forest again for another hunt. But before he could leave, he noticed Shachi and Penguin approaching him.
"Law," Shachi said, "if you're going hunting, can we come with you?"
Law stayed silent for a moment.
Shachi and Penguin have trained hard over the past year, he thought. They've grown much stronger. Still, most of their skills are in mechanics—they helped repair the Polar Tang and learned a lot from that. But for hunting… it's not enough.
"I'm sorry," Law finally said. "You're still too weak for this."
With that, he turned and left.
Penguin clenched his fists.
"Why did Law refuse? We trained so hard. We've gotten stronger."
Shachi nodded, then his eyes narrowed with determination.
"If Law won't take us, then we'll go hunting ourselves. What do you say, Penguin?"
Penguin hesitated only for a moment before nodding.
"That's a great idea. Let's go."
They headed off into a different part of the forest.
What they didn't know…
was that Bepo had seen everything.
Without hesitation, he ran to tell Wolf.
