Chapter 445 - Chapter 445: Land Creation

Chapter 445: Land Creation

"Incredible... Land Creation!"

Boruto was completely flabbergasted. The scene unfolding before his eyes surpassed anything he could have ever imagined.

How is this even possible?! One single ninjutsu just created an entire continent!

This has to be a genjutsu, right? I heard Captain Tonbo is a master of genjutsu—the absolute strongest genjutsu-type shinobi in the world.

It has to be a genjutsu. Absolutely no doubt about it.

He rubbed his eyes vigorously and looked again, only to find that the massive landmass was still standing firmly right there.

He even formed the hand seal to dispel genjutsu.

Unluckily for his theories, the continent remained unchanged.

"Save your energy. That's a genuine ninjutsu, not a genjutsu," Mitsuki remarked from beside him, chuckling softly at Boruto's bewildered state.

Given Master Tonbo's true caliber, a display like this was standard procedure.

In fact, this wasn't even the full extent of his strength.

If he were to unleash his true, unreserved power, Mitsuki couldn't even fathom how terrifying it would be.

Even Otsutsuki Kaguya—who had nearly brought the entire Shinobi World to ruin back then—probably wouldn't stand a chance against him now.

Hearing Mitsuki's confirmation, Boruto gasped, "Holy crap... that's beyond insane!"

He instinctively turned his gaze toward Naruto.

If Captain Tonbo is this overwhelmingly strong, won't Dad look totally incompetent when it's his turn to perform?

Does that mean Uncle Sasuke wouldn't be able to beat Captain Tonbo either?

For a brief moment, Boruto almost felt tempted to switch his idol to someone else.

And Boruto was far from the only one shaken to the core.

Shikadai rubbed his head as he stared at the colossal island that had literally emerged from the ocean depths.

"So this is the 'strongest shinobi in Konoha' Dad keeps talking about? Man, this is way too ridiculous... I heard he used to be Grandpa's subordinate back in the day."

He had heard tales about this Vice Director of the Technology Development Bureau from his father and grandfather since he was a kid.

Now, he was finally witnessing it firsthand.

No wonder Shikamaru had insisted so adamantly that he attend this fresh recruit ceremony before the term started.

Looking at it now, his dad was spot on.

It really was mind-blowing.

If he had missed out on seeing this, the loss would have been immeasurable.

To think so many top-tier, legendary shinobi were expending massive amounts of chakra just to demonstrate the true upper limits of a shinobi's power to new recruits.

Chocho Akimichi chimed in, her eyes shining brightly, "According to my dad, Director Tonbo used to hold him when he was a baby and even fed him meat! I wonder if that's actually true."

What an unbelievably cool man!

Inojin Yamanaka added, "That's my mom's teacher—Captain Tonbo. The man who created the second ultimate chakra shape transformation technique beside the Rasengan, and the genius who developed countless shinobi training facilities!"

The Ino-Shika-Cho trio was thoroughly numb with shock.

They had heard these legends from their parents growing up, but seeing it manifest in reality was something else entirely.

It was downright absurd.

Even ninja novels wouldn't dare write something this outrageous.

Watching the spectacle unfold, Naruto felt his blood boiling with intense excitement, his mind drifting back to his childhood when he used to throw tantrums demanding hugs from Tonbo.

So many years had passed, and he rarely visited the places he used to frequent back then—especially after starting a family of his own.

Meanwhile, Uncle Tonbo had grown continuously stronger, reaching ever more terrifying heights.

Still, I'm not doing too shabby myself. Uncle Tonbo, I've already caught up to you!

A subtle smirk curved Naruto's lips.

He was fully prepared to put on a massive, epic flex right in front of Uncle Tonbo.

He wanted to show him that the kid he had watched grow up was no longer a child.

He was now a dependable man capable of holding up the heavens.

He wasn't going to let Uncle Tonbo down.

SWISH!

Having completed his Sage Art, Tobitake Tonbo glided back to the instructors' lineup.

Naruto asked, "Uncle Tonbo, is your demonstration finished already?"

That can't be right... Uncle Tonbo has a wicked sense of humor and loves showing off more than anyone.

From a young age, Naruto knew that Uncle Tonbo loved flexing and putting on a grand show.

Even more than Sasuke did!

In fact, the very slang term "flexing" had been coined by Uncle Tonbo himself.

Naruto had no idea what went on inside that man's brain sometimes.

"Of course not," Tobitake Tonbo chuckled lightly. "This island was created merely to serve as a proper stage for your upcoming display. Without a solid reference point, the visual impact wouldn't be grand enough, and it might fail to leave a lasting impression on the recruits."

He offered a casual smile.

"Don't forget, genjutsu is my true specialty."

As he spoke, he turned his gaze toward the crowd of students and rapidly wove a sequence of hand seals.

"Genjutsu: Simulation Training!"

A wave of dense chakra pulsed outward, instantly enveloping every single student.

In a fraction of a second, all the recruits collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Simultaneously, within a mysterious mental realm...

The recruits materialized one by one.

Each student found themselves transported to a completely unique environment: some stood on massive islands, others hovered in the depths of the dark sea, some soared across the open sky, and others chewed dirt on chaotic battlefields.

The scenarios were endlessly varied.

However, the vast majority were locked in high-stakes survival or intense combat simulations.

It was an upgraded, next-generation version of the battlefield simulation training the Konoha 11 had once undergone in their youth.

"Let's give them about ten to fifteen minutes to experience it," Tobitake Tonbo said softly.

The moment he finished speaking, projection screens materialized in the air above the recruits' physical bodies.

It was a exact recreation of the system he had used on the Academy graduates back in the day.

Only this time, the visual fidelity was significantly sharper and far more vivid.

He then pulled out specialized nutrient serums and administered them to the recruits to sustain their physical vitality.

Naruto voiced his concern: "They're still so young. Is their mental energy really sufficient to endure this level of intensive simulation?"

This type of training placed heavy demands on one's spiritual strength.

"You're underestimating them—and underestimating me," Tonbo replied calmly.

"This specialized serum will protect and soothe their spiritual nervous systems. On top of that, my genjutsu has been finely calibrated to blur the visceral sensations of killing and dying, so they won't suffer any lasting psychological trauma."

"That's a relief," Naruto nodded.

Before long, the recruits broke free from the genjutsu and opened their eyes.

They stared at Tobitake Tonbo in sheer, breathless awe.

They had lost count of how many times their minds had been blown today.

Is this the true power of a peak shinobi?!

"Was that actual genjutsu just now?! I felt like I was dumped into a pitch-black, endless abyss... it was terrifying!"

"That's nothing! I got thrown right into the middle of a colossal sandstorm and had to survive for days! I had no idea how to survive and died countless times... thank goodness it was just a simulation!"

"Dammit, I got dropped into outer space to fight aliens!"

"Aliens?! What did they look like?!"

"I entered a brutal warzone and had to brawl with battle-hardened veterans!"

"What an incredible genjutsu..."

The recruits babbled excitedly in heated discussion, overwhelmed by the experience.

Meanwhile, a few particularly sharp recruits noticed subtle changes occurring within their own bodies.

It felt as though new muscle memory and survival instincts had been engraved into their reflexes.

If they were to encounter similar crises in real life, they would now react with vastly superior efficiency compared to ordinary people.

"Alright, recruits! Next up is our final grand finale—the performance by our Seventh Hokage, Lord Naruto! Keep your eyes glued!"

Konohamaru announced loudly to the crowd.

"YES SIR!"

Every single recruit leaned forward in high anticipation.

It had finally come down to the very last performer—the Hokage himself.

It was bound to be completely legendary.
