Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : I am a living saint

Alex is 21 years old this year and has graduated from university.

When he was thirteen, his parents divorced due to relationship issues.

Soon after, both parents started their own new families.

He was not welcomed by either new family, so he lived alone.

After graduation, unable to find a suitable job, he chose to deliver takeout as a temporary measure.

On Valentine's Day, after delivering an order of contraceptives and small toys to a hotel, he planned to finish work and return to his rented apartment.

At this moment, the dispatch software assigned him an order for the suburbs.

Alex initially didn't want to deliver it, but the other party added a 45 yuan tip.

The delivery fee, as high as 56.4 yuan, made Alex, who was so poor he wished he could split a penny in half, feel tempted.

He accepted the order, picked up the takeout goods from the vendor, and then followed the navigation to deliver it.

After entering a dimly lit tunnel, a strong light suddenly burst forth ahead, and Alex instinctively closed his eyes.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself inside a Moon-class cruiser that was tearing through the Warp and returning to Holy Terra (Earth/Reality).

Realizing that he had transmigrated, Alex felt as if ten thousand grass-mud horses were galloping through his mind.

This kind of thing is truly unbelievable! It's like the mother of absurdity opening the door for absurdity—it's utterly absurd!

Folks, who understands this?! Delivering takeout got me transmigrated!!

It seems that the 56.4 yuan delivery fee wasn't for takeout, but for him, a living person.

Transmigration wasn't the most tragic part.

The most tragic part was that immediately after transmigrating, he saw dozens of hideous Mutants with glowing green eyes.

They wandered aimlessly in the wide corridor, illuminated by flickering red lights.

Updates are hard-won, remember to share 101kanshu.com

Alex's arrival startled them; one by one, they turned their heads to look, their gazes chilling.

"Big brothers, I'm just passing by. You guys carry on, do what you need to do, no need to mind me."

The Mutants clearly didn't understand him; they howled and lunged forward.

Alex didn't even have time to scream before he was disemboweled and torn to shreds by them.

In his dying moments, only one thought remained in his mind.

"What kind of bizarre alternate world is this?! Dismembered right after transmigrating?"

He thought death would be the end of everything.

But Alex soon realized he had thought too optimistically.

His soul was dragged into a storm-ravaged, blood-red ocean.

Blood-colored giant waves surged overwhelmingly, each one tens of thousands of meters high.

In the ocean, countless souls floated and screamed.

Terrifying, eerie laughter echoed from the depths of the ocean, rumbling loudly.

Alex was completely numb.

He thought his life had hit rock bottom, but who would have thought it could still fall further?

What kind of hell is this?!

Just as Alex was lamenting his tragic life, a golden figure appeared and pulled him out of the blood-red ocean.

"Are you here to save me?" Alex asked expectantly.

The figure's tone was full of majesty, "No, I am here to send you back to continue your duty."

"No, big brother, I've been torn to shreds by those monsters, and you still want to send me back? Can't you be less malicious?"

The other party ignored Alex's complaints.

The next second, a golden light appeared out of nowhere, enveloped Alex, and swallowed his soul.

When he woke up again, he found himself lying in front of a shrine.

His body, which had been disemboweled, was restored to its original state, showing no signs of having been injured.

"Who am I?"

"Where am I?"

"What happened?"

Alex was completely bewildered, unable to understand the situation.

As soon as he regained some strength, he got up and surveyed his surroundings.

Everything that met his eyes made his Scalp tingle with fear!

He even suspected he had entered the set of some horror movie.

On the altar in front of the shrine were several polished human skulls.

Shriveled, grotesque human heads, connected by metal cables, were immersed in green liquid, linked to complex mechanical devices.

In the recessed devices placed against the wall, disfigured human bodies, grotesquely altered, were bound or impaled by cables.

Just looking at it made one's Scalp tingle.

It was definitely a horror movie set.

Alex suppressed his fear and continued to examine other areas.

He saw double-headed eagle banners hanging on the wall.

There were skull-and-gear insignias embedded on the main door and on the mechanical equipment.

There was also a large window on one side of the wall.

Through the window, he could see the stars and meteors outside, as well as the vast, boundless void.

Alex also discovered that he was inside a colossal metal battleship.

On the broadside, there were golden double-headed eagle reliefs and exaggeratedly large broadside cannons.

Alex also saw strange glowing rifts in the void.

These rifts spread across the entire starry sky, dividing the stars.

One of these rifts was particularly astonishing, splitting the entire galaxy in two.

These things led to a bad premonition in Alex's heart.

He seemed to have transmigrated to a terrifying place.

That forbidden zone for transmigrators, alongside Cthulhu and the Foundation—the Warhammer 40k universe.

And it was the darkest, most desperate End Times of the Imperium of Man.

The Despoiler Abaddon launched the Thirteenth Black Crusade, destroying the fortress of Cadia and causing the Eye of Terror to expand, tearing the galaxy apart.

Warp forces gained the upper hand, and the Imperium of Man was on the verge of collapse.

The red ocean he saw after death should be the chaotic and disorderly Warp.

And that golden figure, Alex guessed, was the Emperor.

"How did I transmigrate to this hellhole?! Is it because I played Space Marine 2?!"

"But weren't the game's terms just for fun?!"

"It said it was just for playing, how could His Majesty the Emperor take it seriously?!"

Having figured out where he was, Alex felt so depressed he wanted to vomit blood.

He performed the aquila salute in front of the shrine, praying to the Emperor.

"Big brother, please stop messing with me, I can't stand this terrible place!"

Perhaps it was a benefit for transmigrators.

As soon as his prayer ended, Alex received a response.

A golden glowing circular hole appeared out of thin air above the shrine.

A cherub-like cherubim flew out of it and told Alex the whole story in a mechanical voice.

Alex couldn't go back because he had been chosen by the Emperor to become a Living Saint.

His duty was to trick Players from Holy Terra (Earth/Reality) into coming to this universe to work for the Emperor.

The current Imperium has lost its vitality, becoming a bloated corpse on the verge of decay.

It needs an infusion of fresh blood to revitalize it.

And humans from the early third millennium are the most curious and adaptable group.

As for the battleship Alex transmigrated to, it was named Imperial Glory.

It belonged to the Solar Fleet under the Imperial Navy.

It was ordered to support the planet Cadia and prevent the Despoiler's Thirteenth Black Crusade.

Cadia fell, and the Eye of Terror expanded.

Realizing their defeat, the Imperial forces withdrew from the Cadia battlefield.

The Imperial Glory was also ordered to retreat and return to the Solar System.

An accident occurred during the ship's Warp travel, causing damage to its Geller Field.

The crew members were exposed to the Warp and corrupted by Chaos forces.

They all turned into insane Mutant monsters, knowing only how to kill and feed.

The Strategic Room was the only place on the ship that was not corrupted by Chaos and had no monsters.

Alex was killed by the Mutants and then resurrected in the Strategic Room.

"Good heavens, is His Majesty the Emperor planning to mass-produce E-demons??"

Alex's eyes widened as he muttered to himself.

From any perspective, the Players as a group resembled a higher version of Warp daemons.

After explaining everything, the cherubim also gave Alex a task.

[Task: Summon Companions.

Alone, you will certainly not be able to deal with so many enemies; you need enough companions.

You need to convince five or more Players to pre-register for the game.

Task Reward: 500 Faith Points, Basic Combat Gear.]

After asking, Alex learned the use of Faith Points from the cherubim.

Faith Points can be used to learn special skills at the shrine.

Exchange for gene-seeds and mechanical implants to become Astartes or Adeptus Mechanicus.

Exchange for or draw bound weapons and equipment, and accelerate resurrection speed.

You can also temporarily gain a portion of the Emperor's power by consuming Faith Points.

Simply put, Faith Points are the Players' currency, which they can exchange for various good things from the Emperor.

After issuing the task, the cherubim left, leaving Alex alone.

Perhaps it was a manifestation of the Emperor's might; when Alex used the Strategic Room's control console, he found that the Thinker System could even connect to Holy Terra (Earth/Reality)'s internet.

Using the internet, Alex tricked a group of Warhammer enthusiasts into forming a Warhammer "Cattle and Horse Group," which led to the scene at the beginning.

Bang!

The sound of the blast door being struck rang out again, tightening Alex's heart.

He gripped his gun with both hands, slowly walked over, and pressed his ear against the door.

The blast door was made of plasti-steel and was very thick, but he could vaguely hear many footsteps and shouts from outside.

The monsters were lingering outside.

Clearly, they knew he was in here.

At this moment, the light screen reappeared.

[Task 1: The login devices for the fifteen pre-registered Players have been deployed. Try to get the Players to log into this universe as much as possible.

Reward: Each new Player who logs in will receive 200 Faith Points and a small amount of experience.]

[Task 2: Clear the enemies on the Imperial Glory.

The Imperial Glory is a valuable asset of the Imperium and must not fall into the hands of Chaos minions.

Kill the monsters that the crew members have turned into and seize control of the ship.

Reward: Defeating one enemy grants 20 Faith Points and a small amount of experience.

Recapturing the Imperial Glory will grant an epic piece of equipment and a large amount of experience points.]

"Logging in one person grants 200 Faith Points!"

Alex's eyes went wide.

At this stage, Faith Points were the most important thing to him.

This stuff was key to improving his strength.

He had five hundred Faith Points; if ten Players logged in, he could earn two thousand Faith Points.

He could use these Faith Points to improve his firearm shooting and melee combat skills.

To enhance his survival ability.

Plus the automatic pistol in his hand.

Dealing with the Mutants outside shouldn't be a big problem.

Just then, Alex's stomach rumbled.

"I'm already a Living Saint, why do I still have to eat?!"

Alex touched his stomach and sighed softly.

He glanced at the blast door, then walked towards a cabinet by the wall.

Opening the cabinet, he found several energy bars and purified water inside.

Tearing open the packaging and stuffing it into his mouth, Alex showed a pained expression.

The nutrition bar tasted like starch mixed with lard, sticky and hard to swallow.

If it weren't for the purified water to cut through the greasiness, he wouldn't have been able to eat it at all.

Bang!

Another impact sound came from outside.

The force was so great that the blast door gently swayed.

"Hurry up and log in, if I stay alone any longer, I'll go crazy..."

Alex muttered to himself while eating the nutrition bar.

PS: Here's another cherubim, see if it's creepy or not.
