Chapter 9 -  The School Nurse, Mimosa

Complaining about her cheat not being powerful enough

was really just Serena joking with herself.

Having a cheat at all—

on top of transmigrating—

was already absurdly good fortune.

What more could she possibly want?

…Oh, right.

In the Pokémon world, the saying should probably be:

What more could you want—another Cyclizar?

After thinking it over, Serena decided to start with something

that didn't require a large upfront investment.

Part-time jobs like handing out flyers on the street?

No thanks.

She didn't have the time or energy for that.

She still had to train Pokémon.

On the other hand, trying her luck on platforms like PokéTV or short-video apps—

becoming a streamer or content creator—

That sounded like a solid option.

Plenty of transmigrator veterans had taken that route.

The best part?

Almost no startup cost.

At worst, it was just some mental effort—

testing the waters.

"Alright then," Serena clenched her fist.

"Starting today, I'll begin from zero and become an excellent Pokémon content creator!"

"Kapu?! 0.o??"

Gible tilted its head in complete confusion.

Just yesterday, its Trainer had been talking about becoming a top-tier Pokémon Trainer.

Why had today's goal suddenly changed to

an excellent Pokémon streamer?

Flipping goals faster than flipping pages.

What Gible didn't know was that becoming a content creator wasn't the goal.

It was the means.

If Serena didn't make money,

was she supposed to live off Gible instead?

"…."

Actually…

Selling Gible—

especially a Gible that knew Dragon Dance—

In the eyes of top competitive Trainers,

that would be a priceless treasure.

The money from selling it would be enough

to live comfortably for this lifetime—and probably the next.

But Serena would have to be out of her mind to do that.

The title of this story was

Pokémon: Starting With a Dragon Dance Gible.

Not

Pokémon: Selling the Dragon Dance Gible at the Start and Lying Flat Forever.

Absolutely not.

After a full day of routine training,

Serena left the gym with Gible.

Even this endlessly energetic land-shark baby—

normally bursting with vitality like a hyperactive kid—

was visibly worn out.

That alone proved how effective the day's solo training had been.

Still, even a late-blooming pseudo-legendary

wasn't a tireless machine.

Intensive training had to be paired with proper recovery and physical therapy

to achieve the best results.

Just like human athletes needed massage therapists

or relaxation tools after workouts.

Serena wasn't a Pokémon Battle major.

She didn't know any students specializing in Pokémon medicine

or Pokémon nursing.

So—

Before returning to her dorm,

she took a detour and brought Gible to Shanghai University's infirmary.

As a student, bringing an "injured" Pokémon to the school clinic

wasn't freeloading.

It was simply using the resources she was entitled to.

"Your Pokémon is all treated now, Serena."

After waiting for over ten minutes,

Mimosa—the school nurse—

pushed Gible out of the treatment room on a clean, Pokémon-sized medical bed.

By her side was her assistant Pokémon, Hypno.

"Kapu~ Kapu~!"

Gible sat upright on the bed, waved its short arms,

and flexed proudly to show it was back at full power.

"Your Gible has so much energy," Mimosa said with a laugh.

"Training hard is a good thing, but remember—

don't overwork your Pokémon. Their health comes first."

"Hmm…"

Hypno, standing nearby, waved the pendulum in its hand slowly.

Putting a restless Gible to sleep for treatment

had not been an easy task.

"Thank you, Nurse Mimosa," Serena said,

scratching the back of her head with an awkward but polite smile.

"I'll be more careful."

Normally, when people thought of Pokémon medical staff,

they thought of Nurse Joy

and the vast Joy family that practically monopolized Pokémon Centers.

Their standard assistant Pokémon was Chansey.

In certain regions, Chansey might be replaced with local alternatives,

depending on regional specialties.

But beyond Pokémon Centers—

large and small—

Schools, towns, cities,

and even rural villages all required their own medical facilities.

So it wasn't strange at all

to see nurses who weren't Nurse Joy,

or assistants that weren't Chansey.

What did pique Serena's curiosity

was why Nurse Mimosa's assistant Pokémon was Hypno.

Hypno had a… complicated reputation.

In competitive battling,

its role could be summarized in seconds.

But outside of battle?

Its applications were nearly endless.

Using Hypnosis to calm agitated Pokémon,

help them rest,

and allow treatments to proceed smoothly—

It actually made perfect sense.

Hypnosis was a move with far broader uses

than people gave it credit for.

No need to label Hypno as an "evil Pokémon" all the time.

That wasn't fair.
