Chapter 11 -  The World’s Number One Garchomp Trainer

Dragon Dance + Gible—

was there any potential in that?

Of course there was.

In Serena's eyes, this was on the same level as legendary Pokémon memes like

"Groudon learns Fly",

"Sound-based superheroes",

or

"Charizard that isn't a Dragon and can't breathe fire."

Who wouldn't want to see a Garchomp that could finally use Dragon Dance?

Or a Groudon that could actually fly?

That said, Serena wasn't naïve enough to think she was the only person in the world

clever enough to come up with such a clickbait-worthy idea.

If she could think of it,

other Trainers streaming on PokéTV could think of it too.

So before committing,

she decided to do some reconnaissance.

She opened PokéTV's search bar and typed in:

"Dragon Dance Garchomp"

"Dragon Dance Gabite"

"Dragon Dance Gible"

To her surprise—

She actually found a live stream with huge red letters screaming "Dragon Dance",

right next to Garchomp's image.

Thirty seconds later, Serena closed the stream, cursing under her breath.

"…Unbelievable. They highlighted 'Dragon Dance' in giant red letters,

but in tiny black text in the middle was Dragon Cheer.

That's straight-up click fraud."

Good news:

In Generation IX, Garchomp did finally learn a move with "Dragon" and "Dance" in the name.

Bad news:

It was Dragon Cheer.

Dragon Cheer:

A rousing draconic shout that boosts allies' morale,

increasing their chances of landing critical hits.

Dragon-type Pokémon receive an even stronger boost.

The streamer was running a Dragon Cheer team,

using Garchomp alongside Pokémon like Dragonite, Salamence, and Hydreigon.

Charizard and Gyarados were technically there too—

but only as spectators in the PC box.

After all, neither of them were actually Dragon-type,

so they didn't benefit from Dragon Cheer's enhanced effects.

One team composition.

Multiple Pokémon offended.

Peak troll energy.

The chat was in full meltdown mode.

"Dragon Cheer = Dragon Dance? Fair enough, I guess."

"Confirmed: This guy hates Cynthia."

"Reporting as a representative of the Garchomp Protection Association."

"So that's how it is…"

Serena leaned back, thoughtful.

Whether in her old world or this one,

Dragon Dance Garchomp was still a legendary meme.

From a player's god's-eye view,

it was easy to conclude that Garchomp simply could not learn Dragon Dance.

End of story.

Case closed.

Grave dug.

The game designers had made their stance painfully clear.

They would rather let Gible scales be used as materials to craft a Dragon Dance TM

than allow a Dragon Dance Garchomp to exist.

That level of malice was unmistakable.

But from the perspective of this world's Trainers,

things looked very different.

They didn't possess access to the absolute bottom-layer logic of "game mechanics."

To them, it wasn't that Gible, Gabite, or Garchomp could never learn Dragon Dance—

It was just that learning it was extremely difficult.

After all, Pokémon could learn moves through countless methods:

Leveling up

Evolution-based learning

Move relearner services

Breeding

Tutors

Technical Machines

Copy techniques

Special legacy moves

With so many pathways available,

no one—Trainer or researcher alike—

Not even Cynthia,

the most renowned Garchomp Trainer in the world—

Could definitively state:

"Garchomp can never learn Dragon Dance."

There were no absolutes.

Trainers simply hadn't found the right method yet.

Because of this,

"Garchomp can't learn Dragon Dance"

had become a famous meme—just like in Serena's previous world.

But how many people truly understood

the rarity, the value,

and the overwhelming power

of a Garchomp that could use Dragon Dance?

That was another matter entirely.

In reality—

The higher a Trainer's strategic level,

the deeper their understanding of Pokémon training,

the more familiar they were with Gible and Garchomp—

The more clearly they would realize just how absurdly difficult it was

to make Dragon Dance Garchomp a reality.

And how terrifying its power ceiling truly was.

Only someone who could be called

the world's number one Garchomp Trainer

would fully grasp that truth.

As for casual Trainers and chatroom spectators?

To them, it was just a funny meme.

They never stopped to consider

the immense tactical depth and hidden value behind it.
