Chapter 29: What are the Main Objectives of ?

"Boss, has that thing caught up yet?" Jackson asked nervously. He had been driving at full speed and couldn't possibly be distracted to check if the Terminator T-1000 was following.

Marcus replied, "The Terminator T-1000 is slow; it can't catch up."

The Terminator T-1000 also has weaknesses!

Although the Terminator T-1000 is a fully liquid metal machine with unparalleled transformation capabilities and powerful physical wound defense and healing abilities, its shortcomings are also obvious.

For example, its fully liquid metal body results in insufficient rigidity, which is a weakness in terms of strength, structural stability, and mobility and speed.

If we compare the Terminator T-1000 with the Terminator T-800, even though the Terminator T-1000 is more advanced, the T-800 is still far superior in the above three aspects.

That's why the more advanced Terminator T-X model was developed. It combines the advantages of the T-800 and T-1000, featuring an internal structure of ultra-strong alloy, supplemented by liquid metal, thus forming the more powerful Terminator T-X.

"Attention all personnel, this is Foster. Authorization code: Falcon, Freedom, Future. Terminator T-1000 has arrived. All personnel on high alert. Notify the LAPD to deploy K-9 units for citywide patrols. Disseminate information about the Terminator T-1000. Execute Plan Alpha," Marcus gave the orders via radio.

The Terminator Division's field personnel responded, indicating they understood. Marcus then contacted Kyle separately. After Kyle answered the phone, Marcus spoke first, "How's the situation on your end?"

"Do you believe in fate?" Kyle replied, seemingly unrelated, but actually reciting a password.

"I trust in humanity," Marcus replied, then added, "Be careful, Terminator T-1000 has appeared. I've already arranged for agents to pick you up. You'll meet in a bit, then go to the field office to lay low for a while."

Marcus added, "By the way, when you meet, don't forget to exchange passwords, understand?"

"No problem," Kyle replied. "By the way, why did Terminator T-1000 target you first?"

This question surprised Marcus himself!

Why would Terminator T-1000 target him?

He wasn't John Connor, and he couldn't possibly lead future humans to form a resistance to overthrow Skynet.

Logically speaking, Terminator T-1000 should be targeting John Connor, right?

"I don't know yet, perhaps it's..." Marcus stopped himself before finishing, realizing the reason.

The fate of the Terminator world had been completely disrupted!

Skynet has completely deviated from the original storyline, repeatedly sending Terminators back to assassinate Sarah and John, and even arranging for a Terminator identical to him to kill FBI Director Garrett in Los Angeles.

Doesn't this demonstrate that the Terminator world has strayed from its original plot?

"System, have I interfered with the fate of the Terminator world?" Marcus asked in his mind.

The Transcendence System responded, "Does the host have some misunderstanding of fate? According to the host's theory, if time and fate are likened to a river, and humans to fish, when the host enters the Terminator world, even if the Terminator world and the host's world are not in the same universe, the host has still entered the River of Time and Destiny of the Terminator world."

"Once inside the River of Time and Destiny, if the host is just an ordinary fish, naturally there will be no fluctuations in the river, but is the host an ordinary fish?" the Transcendence System countered.

Marcus retorted, "Am I not?"

"In the River of Time and Destiny of the Terminator world, the host has completely changed the fates of Kyle Reese, Sarah Connor, and John Connor. Three key points of destiny have been altered. Does the host still consider themselves an ordinary fish?" the Transcendence System repeated its question.

Marcus roughly understood what the Transcendence System meant.

"So I'm being targeted by Skynet in the future?" Marcus asked hesitantly, having just suspected this reason.

"Yes," the Transcendence System gave an affirmative answer. "The theory of time is extremely complex—temporal entanglement, time travel, hyperdimensional synchronization, temporal feedback loops, etc. These are all too complex for the system to explain clearly in a short time, and the host may not necessarily understand them either."

Marcus was speechless. Was the system implying he wasn't intelligent enough?

"The system is scanning and examining the River of Destiny of the Terminator world. After detailed scanning and testing, the host's fluctuations in the River of Destiny are almost identical to John Connor's," the Transcendence System explained the situation.

"..." Marcus was a little speechless. Did the Transcendence System mean he was now as important as John Connor?

At least the fluctuations in the River of Destiny are the same!

So he was marked as a primary target by Skynet, a main target like John Connor?

"Could I become the savior of the Terminator world?" Marcus asked doubtfully.

The Transcendence System retorted, "Isn't what the host did in the Terminator world fighting against Skynet?"

Marcus was speechless. The Transcendence System's words made perfect sense; he didn't know how to refute them. He was indeed fighting against Skynet in the Terminator world.

So, if Skynet wanted to eliminate him, was there a problem?

"Boss, LAPD has spotted a target!" Jackson reminded him.

"I'm hanging up now. Terminator T-1000 has been spotted here. I need to deal with it first." After Marcus finished speaking, he ended the call.

Jackson watched Marcus end the call and explained while driving, "LAPD has detected an anomaly at the Knox Steel Mill on 27th Street. The K-9 units are alerting heavily over there."

"Go there immediately," Marcus ordered through the radio, notifying the Terminator Division's field agents to converge there.

Knox Steel Mill, 27th Street.

Terminator T-1000 had taken refuge there. Knox Steel was an abandoned facility with a complex internal layout and deteriorated lighting, most of which was no longer working.

In such dim lighting, finding the Terminator T-1000, a master of transformation and mimicry, was incredibly difficult!

Furthermore, the steel mill contained a vast amount of metal, making even using a metal detector to search for the Terminator T-1000 a challenging task.

In such an environment, the Terminator T-1000 thrived!

Outside Knox Steel, LAPD officers had completely surrounded the facility.

For the past decade or so, the LAPD and the FBI's Los Angeles field office have cooperated extensively; they've long been accustomed to assisting the FBI. Once a Terminator is spotted, their role is simply to establish a perimeter, never to engage directly.

To quote the LAPD officers' mantra: "Leave those metal monsters to the FBI!"

When Marcus arrived at the scene, most of the field agents from the FBI's Los Angeles field office were already there, but they hadn't yet taken action and were awaiting orders from Marcus.

Looking at the abandoned Knox Steel Mill, Marcus, like everyone else, didn't act rashly; it was clearly a trap!
