Chapter 22 - Being Human-> Father Wake Up.

Frank headed into his room hurriedly, partly because he didn't want to miss watching the skeletons brawl against one another and also there was a desire to see Berry defeated by another skeleton.

He was a bit frustrated he lost so easily against Berry, so watching Berry lose would be a source of consolation to his aching heart or whatever skeletons had for hearts.

While returning to his room, Frank didn't spare a glance at anybody which was a grievous mistake on his part, if he had he would have seen the longing coming from their eyes, and the way they freely oozed cursed energy into the atmosphere thereby painting the atmosphere's sky a darker shade of purple.

Frank carelessly kept the life energy bar under the bed in his room and then rushed out into the stands to secure a seat to watch the match, earnestly waiting for the defeat of Berry.

Frank had not sat longer than five minutes that he saw a spectacular sight.

Berry was slumped on the ground no more that a meter to the stone circle's edge littered with cracked bones and holes in all parts of his body.

***

Berry was not doing very well, Nigel had learnt about all about Berry's mysterious skills since his last defeat in the training compound.

Berry desperately tried using his attribute on him but Nigel was always blocking it off. It was a miracle Berry lasted five minutes, since the beginning of the duel, Berry had been trying to evade all of Nigel energy blasts with little success.

Based on what Berry observed from Nigel over the months he had been in the servant's camp, he was sure he knew Nigel abilities better than anyone in the camp including Nigel.

Nigel was a low class soul being with abilities like aimed shot which shot a large energy blast made of cursed energy coming from Nigel's body and as if that was not enough he could absorb cursed energy from the atmosphere on a whim and faster than any other low class soul being, making him a bit unkillable or better yet never powerless.

Nigel powers may seem like the best and were dreamy powers but in other scenarios he would die within a minute, Nigel needed a constant supply of cursed energy to live and although he was always powerful, once his stamina was depleted, his weak bones wouldn't be able to control the power stored in his body.

Berry weighed his options while noticing that nothing could make Nigel weak as he tried drifting to another side to avoid the energy beam coming at him. In a battle when fighting an opponent it was important to know about the opponent and also about yourself. Berry shot a quick glance at his body while making a decision with a grim expression.

Although the rules of training was to use the energy bar to fix the body to an healthy shape, there was no rule that the energy bar was to be used immediately.

Berry calculated that his wounds weren't that grievous and that although he might might miss the trip to the library to learn a new skill, he could still gain an energy bar as a reward. While he stored the energy bar for a day it would be of great use to him, and used the cursed energy in the atmosphere to repair his body gradually.

Berry spared a glance at Nigel once again, viewing his cold eyes, smooth skull and other parts of his skeletal system.

Berry grinded his teeth as he made a painful decision to step out of the stone circle.

Immediately Berry stepped out of the stone circle, Sebastian read the reports of the battle with a smile that never wavered.

[Although, Berry had a great start in his fight against Frank, I'm afraid he has met his match or should I say someone above his level, failure isn't the end instead it is an opportunity to grow stronger.]

[Berry lost the duel by stepping out of the stone circle, while Nigel wins.]

[We have a new champion everybody!]

A few soul beings were confused with the way Sebastian read the reports and didn't know whether they should rejoice or be concerned.

Oblivious to all that was happening around him, Frank was smiling broadly as he saw the look of defeat in Berry's face as he jumped out of the stone circle. Frank was so happy that he started giggling softly and clapping the skins on his appendages with joy.

After 4 arduous days of traveling at supernatural speed Maru arrived at an underground crypt leading to what looked like a dungeon containing a few caskets decorated with small precious stones at the middle of the casket, made with expensive pieces of wood cut in a fine manner and crafted delicately to form the structure of the casket, finally they were laced with gold all around the edges but Maru wasn't heading into any of those caskets instead he walked into a place in the dungeon that could only be described as a tomb devoid of light, glistening at the center of the tomb laid a golden casket adorned with precious stones all over it and a few spots of purple in some surfaces of the tomb, making the tomb undergo decay gradually.

Maru muttered to himself:

"It seems we would have to change the casket again."

After that, Maru kneeled on the floor as he spoke out loud:

"Father wake up!"

The casket shook softly, then gradually started shaking around at regular intervals until a click was heard as a hand shot out of the casket, the hand was in a perfect form like the owner had never suffered a thing in his life and so was the rest of the brightly pale half naked body that rose from the casket.

Once two hands shot out of the casket, they gripped the casket firmly until a figure stood up from the casket shrouded in darkeness.

The figure stepped out of the casket slowly bringing his bare feet into focus, wearing a light blue robe and finally displaying a light smile on a beautiful face.

The figure opened his mouth softly as he spoke parting his red lips slightly.

"Son, I have missed you..."
