The City Lord expected more.
Sekhmet gave him nothing.
For several seconds, the only sound inside the room came from the faint movement of servants somewhere farther inside Dawn House. The City Lord watched Sekhmet carefully, waiting to see whether he would continue on his own.
He did not.
The City Lord tapped one finger against the side of his cup.
"What was his connection to Iron House?"
"There was not much of one."
That answer made the City Lord pause.
He had expected Sekhmet to say the old God was some hidden protector of Iron House, an ancestor, or perhaps someone Dickoff had secretly hired. Instead, Sekhmet made it sound as though Stephen had almost nothing to do with Iron House at all.
The City Lord leaned forward slightly.
"Then why was he fighting for them?"
Sekhmet looked toward the tea in front of him.
This part was more complicated.
