"Oh, shit! I didn't expect Captain America to be this kind of person!"
General Ross cursed inwardly but didn't dare tell anyone. Having such a son-in-law was an incredible advantage—what was there to complain about?
Still, the man's attitude toward his future father-in-law was terrible—completely lacking in basic respect. Not only that, he even slacked off during work hours and took the lead in playing cards!
The impact was too disgraceful!
"General, do you have any other orders?"
The secretary returned to report the latest updates.
"Do you think Captain America is neglecting his duties?" General Ross asked, hesitating for a moment.
The secretary thought for a while, then shook his head. "No, sir. I believe it's part of the captain's tactic—a deliberate attempt to lull the enemy into complacency."
Ross stared blankly. Playing cards counts as a tactic now?
Why not say that flirting with women is a strategy for world peace too?
That's the power of the righteous image—perfect for slacking off!
Block 42 had turned into a sea of fire. The monstrous Abomination rampaged through the streets, venting his anger and thirst for destruction.
He was driven by the injustice of fate, the hunger for strength, and his obsession with becoming the strongest being alive!
Squads surrounded him, pouring machine-gun fire from every direction.
Others took up positions on rooftops, firing from above.
Da-da-da!
Bullets struck Abomination's hide, losing all kinetic energy as they bounced off and fell uselessly to the ground. His skin was tougher than armor.
It itched more than it hurt.
Enraged, Abomination tore off a car door and hurled it at a nearby building.
Whoosh!
A soldier couldn't dodge in time—the door sliced him clean in half.
Then, Abomination charged, plowing through a line of vehicles, flipping a Humvee over, and stomping helpless soldiers into the ground.
Buildings burned, citizens screamed, and chaos spread.
Amid the carnage, Abomination's heart thrilled with excitement. He loved this feeling of absolute power!
"Haha! I'm invincible!"
Bang!
A shield slammed into his face, sending him reeling. A nimble figure landed on a nearby car roof, catching the shield mid-air.
"Captain America!" someone shouted.
Abomination recognized him instantly. He stared at the tall, handsome Steve Rogers, then at his own monstrous reflection in a shattered window—and his fury spiked.
"Die!"
The two charged at each other, and reporters from the Daily Bugle caught the moment from a helicopter. It was big news!
Other networks quickly joined the broadcast. Captain America's popularity alone could skyrocket ratings—ratings meant ads, and ads meant money.
Bang!
Abomination's punch smashed into Steve's shield—and bounced off.
"Buddy, stop hitting my shield! Try hitting me instead!" Steve taunted, tapping the side of his head. "Right here!"
He really couldn't understand why everyone kept aiming for his shield.
"Don't get cocky, you bastard!"
Abomination roared again, but unlike the Hulk, his strength didn't increase with rage.
Bang!
His next punch met the shield again and sent him stumbling backward.
"Man, you hit like a girl throwing a tantrum!" Steve grinned.
"F*** you! Your whole family's girls!" Abomination shouted back.
Before he could react, Steve dashed forward and kicked him—sending the monster flying six meters into a parked car.
"You sneak attacked me! You pissed me off!"
Gunfire erupted as special forces opened fire.
Steve took the Barrett sniper rifle that Crossbones tossed to him and aimed at Abomination.
Wait, what?
They were supposed to fight hand-to-hand—and now he was using a gun?
How shameless can you get?!
Bang!
The sniper round struck Abomination's arm, half-burying itself in his flesh.
"Ahhh! You all deserve to die!"
Abomination roared, hurling cars at nearby rooftops without hesitation.
Suddenly, his head snapped back as another bullet struck him squarely between the eyes. He staggered, disoriented, shaking his head to clear it.
Steve slung the rifle back, raised his shield, and stood tall—camera lights flashing around him.
Countless women watching the live broadcast screamed in excitement.
They didn't care about the destruction or the casualties—Captain America looked too handsome to ignore!
After all, charisma could win hearts faster than justice.
"Why did you stop firing?!" General Ross barked over the comms.
"The recoil's too strong. I need to rest," Steve replied lazily.
Ross nearly burst a vein. Recoil? Seriously?
Did Steve think he was an idiot? A super soldier bothered by recoil? Obviously, Rogers was slacking off—he just needed to stall for half an hour and clock out.
It's a government job, Steve thought. No need to overwork for a few hundred bucks a month.
Meanwhile, in a nearby high-rise, E.D.I.T.H. suddenly alerted,
"Master, multiple firearm signals detected one kilometer away. They are not from the military or police."
Through Maria Hill's quiet assistance, Steve had gained limited access to a S.H.I.E.L.D. satellite—and linked E.D.I.T.H. to it. He used it to monitor potential threats during missions.
Zooming in with his tactical eyepiece, he spotted two snipers setting up rifles on a distant rooftop.
He raised his Barrett again—two quick shots. Both snipers dropped their rifles, their arms torn open but alive.
"Crossbones, go fetch them," Steve ordered, sending the coordinates. He wanted to know which idiot dared target him.
Down below, soldiers surrounded Abomination, trying to restrain him—only for him to grab one and rip him in half on live TV.
"Ding! Mission complete. Information Prompt upgraded."
Suddenly, a figure crashed from the sky, smashing Abomination into a crater.
As the dust cleared, two roars echoed through the streets.
"Hulk! I found you! Die!"
Abomination's eyes gleamed with madness.
He'd dreamed of this—defeating the Hulk with his bare hands, proving he was the strongest.
Steve took one look at the two monsters and sighed.
"Clock-out time," he muttered, turning to leave. He had plans—to see Betty, reminisce, and maybe have a heart-to-heart with Dr. Helen Cho.
If General Ross had a problem with that, well... his daughter could help him calm down later.
