Inside the lab, Bruce Banner was tied to the test bench, frowning as Mr. Blue adjusted a series of electrical devices around him.
As his irritation grew, the Hulk within him began to stir — veins bulging, muscles tightening. At the same time, a connected syringe started injecting a special serum into his veins.
This serum had been extracted from his own blood and mixed with unknown chemicals and minerals — an attempt to fight poison with poison.
Banner's rage was about to take over when his eyes landed on a photograph taped nearby — a picture of the woman he'd met in Brazil.
"No… I can't turn into the Hulk. I need to calm down. I want to be normal again… to live a new life."
No one truly understood Bruce Banner's suffering. He couldn't have a girlfriend, nor could he visit a brothel to satisfy his desires.
Once he got excited, the transformation began — and whoever was with him would likely be crushed to death.
It had happened before. That fear haunted him to this day.
From a distance, the Winter Soldier — Liu Yi — observed silently. His mission was simple: once the Hulk appeared and the lab was destroyed, he was to collect blood samples and any available research data.
Two anesthetic darts shattered the window and pierced Banner's back. The sedative worked instantly.
Meanwhile, Emil Blonsky, enhanced by a weakened version of the Super Soldier Serum, leapt up to the second floor with inhuman speed and strength.
This diluted serum was far from perfect — it required repeated injections to maintain power, and came with severe side effects like spinal inflammation.
If it had truly succeeded, the world would already be full of super soldiers.
In a previous battle, Blonsky had been kicked by the Hulk and sent flying over thirty meters, slamming into a tree so hard that nearly every bone in his body broke.
Even so, thanks to the serum's regenerative properties, he could walk again in less than a week. The price? His back would never be straight again, leaving him permanently hunched.
Seeing Banner lying unconscious, Blonsky approached and slapped him across the face.
Smack! Smack!
Banner's face turned red and swollen, but the anesthetic was too strong — he didn't move an inch.
"Wake up! Damn it! Get up and fight me!"
Blonsky hadn't come to capture Banner — he wanted to fight the Hulk.
He had always been combative, a trait honed by years surviving as a Russian soldier in Siberia. It was that fighting spirit — and his combat record — that had earned General Ross's attention.
Where most men would retreat from fear, Blonsky faced it head-on.
But the longer Banner slept, the angrier Blonsky became.
He kicked him — hard — right on the nose.
Banner only groaned faintly, still unconscious. The anesthetic was potent enough to tranquilize ten elephants.
"Damn it!"
Blonsky pressed his boot against Banner's face, grinding down with frustration — still no reaction.
By the time the military transport team arrived, there was nothing more he could do. Banner was loaded into a truck and taken away.
But Blonsky stayed behind.
He stared at the blood samples on the counter, then at Mr. Blue — trembling in the corner.
A dangerous thought entered his mind.
He was the strongest soldier alive — the Hulk's rival — and he was going to prove it.
He pointed his gun at the terrified scientist. "Give me Banner's blood. And expose it to gamma radiation. Can you do it?"
"Y-Yes! But there are extreme risks!"
"Do it," Blonsky barked. "Or I'll shoot you right now!"
Bang!
The bullet shattered a cup beside Mr. Blue's head.
Seeing no choice, Mr. Blue activated the equipment. Deep down, he wasn't innocent either — he had always helped Banner for selfish reasons: for fame, reputation, and maybe a Nobel Prize.
Now, with a live subject volunteering, how could he refuse?
This was his chance at immortality in the scientific world.
Meanwhile, General Ross was finally able to breathe easy when Banner was secured.
He boarded his transport plane immediately — the last thing he wanted was more complications.
As for Captain America?
Just thinking about that slacker made his blood boil.
When he pictured Steve Rogers laughing, drinking milk tea, and leading soldiers in a poker game during a mission, Ross nearly had a heart attack.
What kind of soldier behaved like that?
Well — technically, Steve wasn't a soldier anymore. He worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. now, not the military.
At that very moment, Steve was still sipping milk tea, debating whether to visit Maria Hill or Pepper Potts that evening.
Thinking of their passionate private moments — black stockings, heels, and confident smiles — made his pulse quicken.
Then—
Ding!
"Slacking successfully detected. Mission triggered: Face the Abomination."
Mission Objective: Fight the Abomination. Hold out for 30 minutes.
If you fail to defeat him, the mission will still complete once the Hulk awakens and takes over.
Reward: Information Prompt Skill Upgrade.
Steve's eyes lit up. A reward!
The "information prompt" skill had saved him before — warning him of danger ahead. Upgrading it would be invaluable.
Just as he thought that, a massive explosion echoed nearby.
The laboratory wall blew apart, and a monstrous figure emerged.
Nearly three meters tall, with muscles like steel cables and a spine protruding in jagged rows, the creature's body was grotesquely deformed. Its ears had turned into fin-like ridges.
Blonsky — no longer human — had become the Abomination.
Boom!
A car was flattened beneath his feet. A taxi screeched to a halt, but before the driver could react, Abomination kicked it aside.
Both the man and the vehicle were crushed — dead instantly.
"Where's the Hulk? Come out! Fight me!"
His roar shook the streets as he tore through cars and storefronts like toys, leaving fire and bodies in his wake.
Civilians screamed and ran in every direction.
Traffic had jammed the streets, trapping countless people in their vehicles — sitting ducks for the rampaging monster.
"General, we've got a situation downtown! A creature is destroying everything!"
General Ross snatched the tablet from his aide — his face turned pale.
"Is that Banner?"
"No, sir… it appears to be Captain Blonsky."
"What?!"
They'd just captured one monster — and another appeared!
This one looked even worse: more violent, less restrained.
"Deploy the army. Use whatever it takes to stop him! Activate Level 2 weapons authorization!"
Ross clenched his fists. If this disaster leveled another city block, his career — and his life — would be over.
Desperate, he picked up his phone, hesitated for a long moment, and then finally dialed.
The line connected.
"General Ross, what's up? It's almost quitting time," came Steve's laid-back voice — cheerful, smug, even teasing.
Ross gritted his teeth.
"There's an emergency. I need your help suppressing the monster."
Steve chuckled. "By the way, General — I'm planning to marry Betty after the New Year. What do you think?"
Ross froze, then exploded. "I'm a general, Rogers! My daughter is not going to be your concubine!"
"Marrying me is better than marrying someone else," Steve said calmly. "Besides, every second you waste talking, that monster's racked up another $30 million in damages and over fifty civilian deaths. I don't have time to argue."
Ross slammed his fist on the console.
"Damn it!"
He was being threatened — and he knew it.
But what choice did he have?
"Fine," he growled through clenched teeth. "I'll agree."
"Good. Wait for my good news," Steve said coolly. "Once I'm done saving your city, you can start planning the wedding."
