"Android 18!" Gohan called out when he spotted her in the crowd.
"Gohan."
Android 18 turned and walked over calmly.
"Are you here to compete?" Gohan asked.
"Of course," she replied. "What about you? Are you participating?"
"No. I'm just here with my disciples."
"Your disciples?" Android 18 glanced at Goten, Trunks, Videl, and Lagss.
Gohan nodded.
"If you're not competing, then I might have a chance at the prize money," Android 18 said lightly.
Gohan smiled. "Good luck."
After that, she turned and walked away.
Lagss watched her leave, her thoughts racing. She had once thought Gohan was joking about Android 18, but after seeing their interaction, she wasn't so sure anymore.
Soon, the Junior Division matches began.
Goten and Trunks advanced through the rounds effortlessly and entered the finals.
"Congratulations to contestants Goten and Trunks for reaching the Junior Division finals!" the announcer declared. "Please step onto the stage!"
Both boys leapt onto the ring.
"If there's nothing to add, I declare the match begin!"
They both nodded.
"Ha!"
Goten charged first.
Trunks met him head-on.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
They exchanged punches at blinding speed. The audience could barely follow their movements.
Cracks spread across the ring from the force of their clashes.
They leapt into the air and continued fighting.
Because Gohan had forbidden them from using energy blasts, they relied purely on hand-to-hand combat.
After a prolonged exchange, Trunks landed a solid punch that sent Goten flying.
He immediately appeared behind him and hammered both fists down.
Bang!!
Goten plummeted like a meteor.
Just before hitting the ground, he stopped himself mid-air and landed back on the stage using Flight.
The crowd gasped.
The two resumed fighting.
Eventually, Trunks took advantage of Goten's brief lapse in focus and knocked him off the stage.
The referee raised Trunks' hand. "Winner, Trunks!"
Gohan sighed softly but smiled. Goten had improved a lot, but Vegeta had also trained Trunks intensely.
After the Junior Division concluded, the Adult Division began.
Videl and Lagss quickly prepared for their matches.
This time, contestants drew numbers instead of using punching machines.
Both Videl and Lagss advanced smoothly to the top eight.
"Videl!" Mr. Satan cheered proudly from the stands.
Backstage, Lagss leaned closer to Videl and whispered, "That Android 18 is the one Master mentioned before."
Videl's expression stiffened. "The one he mentioned?"
"Yes. And your next opponent is her."
Videl nodded slowly. She had already noticed how effortlessly Android 18 defeated her previous opponents.
"I'll be careful," Videl said firmly.
Soon, she stepped onto the ring.
Android 18 followed calmly.
"Both contestants ready?" the referee asked.
They nodded.
"Begin!"
"Ha!"
Videl immediately rushed forward.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
She unleashed a rapid series of punches.
Android 18 blocked casually with one hand, barely moving.
Videl increased her speed, mixing in kicks and feints.
Android 18 sidestepped smoothly, countering with a light palm strike that forced Videl back several steps.
The audience fell silent.
Videl steadied herself and activated Kaio-ken.
A red aura flared around her.
She dashed forward again, her speed and strength doubling.
Bang!!
This time, her kick pushed Android 18 back slightly.
"Oh?" Android 18 looked mildly surprised.
Videl pressed her advantage, launching a flurry of strikes enhanced by Kaio-ken.
For the first time, Android 18 began to take it seriously.
After several exchanges, Android 18 seized Videl's wrist and spun her, sending her sliding across the ring.
Videl flipped mid-air and landed on her feet, breathing heavily.
Android 18 stood calmly, not even panting.
"You're strong for a human," Android 18 said. "But you're still inexperienced."
Videl clenched her fists.
She charged one final time.
Android 18 waited until the last second, then struck Videl's abdomen with a precise blow.
Bang!!
The impact sent Videl flying out of the ring.
The referee shouted, "Android 18 wins!"
The crowd erupted in noise.
Videl coughed but slowly stood up outside the ring.
Gohan walked over and smiled. "You did well."
Videl nodded, though frustration lingered in her eyes.
Android 18 glanced at Gohan briefly before turning away.
The tournament continued, but everyone knew the real highlight had just taken place.
