Chapter 1 - under the roof

I went outside to take a break from the projects I had been working on for Mia, and then, I realised it was already late. My house was cosy and inviting which made it hard for its occupants to tell when it was dark. That might had been the reason Mia visited me every time.

My mom knew how close we were, she knew that I got lonely at times as the only child. She wasn't against Mia coming to my house even when it was too early for Mia to be at my house. My mom was in fact very welcoming. Mia was certain that she was kind to her because she had no knowledge of the mental health disorder Mia was suffering from. Mia made me promise not to tell anyone because it would change how people saw her and treated her.

Mia and I became very close because we shared interest in the same things. We participated in the same competitions in school. We had contrasting personalities and it was okay for someone who had Borderline Personality Disorder. Her mom had suggested she was homeschooled, but she refused. Practically because she was scared of leaving me.

We weren't classmates, I was in year 13 and she was in year 11. I was able to help her with her difficult projects as her senior. We worked all day and didn't realise it was time to rest for the next day. I rushed inside and told Mia to get her things and leave.

"Why are you just telling me, we will continue tomorrow after school." She said while packing her books.

"See you tomorrow." She said and hurried downstairs.

"Be safe." I shouted after she had left the room.

I lay down and fell asleep immediately because I was exhausted.

I was breathing heavily someone was chasing me but I couldn't see who it was. I couldn't run so she overtook me. It was Mia.
