In the darkness of the night—previously scorching hot, now making the wind much stronger and colder—two figures walking together had to use cloaks to shield their bodies from the gusts.

"Pakura-chan, is this place really that far?" Daigo asked in his calm voice. With his cloak and face covered to avoid the sand, only the pink glow of his eyes was visible.

"Stop complaining—we're almost there. Besides, I told you this place is my favorite, so it should be far from Suna. How did you get permission to leave?" Pakura asked, glancing at him.

"Huh? I just told the Kazekage it was necessary for creating the bloodline, and he said it was fine. In exchange... if this place is as far as hell, how do you come here? Or how did you find it?" Daigo replied, looking at her with a smile that made Pakura look away while whistling.

Both said nothing more for the rest of the journey, deciding to walk and enjoy the night instead of talking. Although Daigo loved to talk a lot—since he got bored without a conversation topic—sometimes he preferred silence to observe the nature of the desert.

Looking ahead, Daigo noticed a rock different from the normal ones he had seen during the walk. Pakura, who was guiding him, went straight toward it until they reached the entrance.

"Well, we're here. I hope it helps you—otherwise, I just showed you my favorite place for nothing," Pakura said, lighting a torch with a weak fire jutsu.

"Don't think so negatively, Pakura-chan. And even if I don't succeed, maybe from now on your favorite place will be mine too," Daigo laughed, only to receive a hit on the head.

"Don't even think about it—if I see you here, I'll disintegrate you with my Scorch Release."

Both continued until, at the end of the hallway, a brilliant light greeted them. Entering the light caused both to close their eyes from the intense glow.

Seconds later, they opened their eyes.

Daigo stopped dead in his tracks. He didn't need the torch Pakura had created; the cave lived with its own light—a lavender glow emanating from gigantic crystals embedded in the walls.

It was a mystical sight. The crystals not only illuminated the path but seemed to pulse to the rhythm of an invisible heartbeat. When he extended his hand and touched one of the faceted surfaces, he didn't feel the roughness of a sharp crystal but a pure vibration. It was the first place where Daigo felt more comfortable than ever.

Looking at the other details, he could only glance at Pakura, who watched him with a face saying it was beautiful—making him nod.

"Well, I hope it helps you. I have an important mission soon, so I won't be in the village for several days—or maybe weeks," Pakura said, resting on a crystal.

"This is perfect. You know, the idea of my research was to find a way to create Crystal Release—and there's no better place than this," Daigo said, sitting down.

"Crystal" Pakura said thoughtfully, looking at Daigo. "Why crystal? It doesn't seem as powerful as my Scorch Release or the Kazekage's Magnet Release."

"That's a very good question, Pakura, but you have to know that Sunagakure's situation isn't just a lack of combat strength—it's also money, fertile land, and non-shinobi support," Daigo explained.

"And how does crystal help with all that?" Pakura responded.

"Crystal may seem weak, but it can be many things: sharp, and also very hard—making it highly versatile, not just in combat. You'll understand more in the future. For now, I can't say more without even being able to use Crystal Release," Daigo replied.

So Pakura said nothing more and lay down as if going to sleep. As for Daigo, he had too many thoughts to sleep—and with limited time, he didn't take long to get into a meditation pose to start using his memories of what he knew about Crystal Release.

Crystal Release, or better known as Shōton, was only shown in the anime and used by a woman named Guren. Though not much was shown, the potential of Crystal Release was evident—capable of creating crystal weapons and even crystallizing people.

Thanks to all that, it gave him the idea to create it. Besides, if he remembered correctly, it was part of Earth Release—the only affinity he had, and a very strong one—so he was lucky that it could work.

As he told Pakura, Sunagakure had many things to improve to become the strongest village. Though many thought the desert was the worst, he believed it was Sunagakure's greatest strength.

Though taking land from the Land of Fire or Earth wasn't bad, the desert was our strongest point.

Focusing on his chakra, he could feel something different around him since arriving in this place—it was as if something was trying to call him, though he had no idea. He just tried to concentrate his chakra on the crystals to start adapting his chakra to the cave full of crystals.

So immersed in his chakra, he didn't feel time passing until some taps on his shoulder finally pulled him out of meditation.

Opening his eyes, the first thing he saw were familiar brown eyes along with very characteristic hair from someone.

"Pakura-chan, did something happen?" Daigo asked, looking at her confused as to why she had pulled him from his meditation.

"It's been a few hours since we arrived. It's time to go back. I'm hungry and need to prepare for the mission," Pakura responded—then Daigo's stomach growled.

"Huh? Looks like I'm hungry too. Let's go—I'll pay, as always," Daigo said, standing up—though if he had looked back, he would have noticed Pakura's murderous glare at his words about paying.

And so time passed without waiting for Daigo or anyone, and the months went by.

In the ninja world, all the great villages—along with the smaller ones—had begun preparing food and weapons for the war that was about to begin soon is best be early than late.

For his part, the Third Kazekage was doing everything he could to get the Wind Daimyo to provide funds to be better equipped for the war.

Though to his dismay, it wasn't going as he wanted—he had to seek missions to fill in what was missing before it started.

Though to make it worse, Iwagakure had begun making movements near the border between Wind and Earth.

There had been several clashes that hadn't escalated to anything serious, but it was a warning from both Kages.

As for Daigo, at 11 years old, he had been using all possible time in his effort to achieve Crystal Release.

And though it wasn't what he had thought, he had found the possible formula to achieve it.

The idea was the same as what he had been doing to use his affinity in the desert:

Compressing the earth to form stone that he could control and create his jutsu—since sand was impossible.

Though the difference was that he had to focus much more on that theme: finding a way to compress the sand to a molecular point.

He knew there were ways to create crystal—one was melting sand to a point where it turned into crystal, though that needed the fire element, which he didn't have.

The other way—and the one he had chosen—was compression and pressure. Perhaps it was something similar to how diamonds were created.

Though diamonds weren't technically crystals, they were gems with a similar constitution—the only difference was how hard diamonds were, almost impossible to break without special tools, while crystal could be broken with a rock.

So this time, after so much training, he knew it was the formula he had been searching for.

Being in the cave that had become his second home since Pakura took him there,

He stood with his hand extended while his eyes were closed in total concentration.

Little by little, he put chakra into his palm. To anyone watching, they would think he was crazy since nothing appeared in his hands.

Though for Daigo, it was different.

In his hand—though he couldn't see it—he could feel it: little by little, something started to form as he made his chakra have pressure along with compression on the dust and minerals invisible to the eye in the air.

Little by little, he had it—until he felt what he wanted. When he opened his eyes, a ball of pink crystal—like his eyes—was in his hand.

Daigo, unable to hold back the huge smile on his face, could only laugh out loud at the little crystal ball.

Taking a break and wiping his sweat, he looked at the crystal ball again and infused his chakra in the same way he had when creating it.

And to his amazement, the previous little crystal ball grew until it reached the size of a tennis ball.

Daigo could only feel that his chakra reserves had taken a hit—dropping to around three-quarters of his total, which wasn't little.

Sitting down to rest, he could only observe his creation.

Though it wasn't the biggest or strongest, for Daigo this was the beginning—the way where he would no longer be a common ninja, cannon fodder, but a powerhouse on his way to his goal.

To become the Fourth Kazekage and change Suna's future.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Daigo looked to see Pakura—who, unlike a few months ago, had changed a lot more. Now at 16 years old.

Her body—previously a girl in growth—seemed to have blossomed, now with a woman's curves, its most striking features that would catch the attention of any man, and without leaving any of her childish fat.

Daigo could only shake his head—though he was 11 years old in body, his mind was a total of 30 years, making his mind think one thing and his body another.

"Pakura-chan, have you finished training your student?" Daigo asked, looking at Pakura, who gave him a warm smile.

"Yes, Maki is focused on her training now—it's no longer my part, but hers. So I decided to come visit you and bring you something to eat," she said, spreading a blanket on the ground and placing the food.

Daigo nodded and joined her to eat, smelling the food and making his stomach growl.

Grabbing a meat skewer, Daigo felt something different—though not bad; on the contrary, his palate seemed to love it.

"Pakura-chan, where did you buy this? It tastes different," Daigo asked.

"Different as in bad or good?" she asked curiously.

"It has a unique flavor that makes it better than the ones I buy. You have to tell me the shop so I can go from now on," Daigo said.

At this, Pakura could only feel satisfied at Daigo's words.

"I cooked them myself—so you have to ask me if you want more so I can prepare them," Pakura said.

"Huh? I didn't expect you to do this for me. Thanks—I have a gift for you too, for your help these years," Daigo said, standing up and taking out some bandages.

Carefully, Daigo approached Pakura and covered her eyes with the blindfold, then took her hand and placed the crystal ball he had just created in it.

"What is this? A ball or what?" Pakura asked, feeling the crystal ball in her hands.

"It can be. You can take off the blindfold now," Daigo said while continuing to devour the meat.

Pakura, removing the blindfold, looked at the object for a moment—then looked at Daigo in surprise.

"You managed to create Crystal Release? Since when?" she asked, amazed and curious.

"Today I did it—before you came. I managed to create a small one and then made it bigger," Daigo said, feeling proud.

"Congratulations, Daigo. Though I imagine it's not that easy, right?" Pakura asked.

"No—unfortunately, it consumes a lot of chakra. Thanks to having a lot, otherwise I would have fainted from exhaustion," Daigo said.

"I see. It's probably incomplete—something's missing, and more practice. It happened to me when I started learning Scorch Release."

"Yes, though I'm done for today. I want to go take a good shower and get some well-deserved rest," Daigo replied.

With that, both ate comfortably—then returned to the village. Instead of running, they walked toward Pakura's apartment.

"Well, we're here. I'll leave you to go home," Daigo said.

"Thanks for walking me, though it wasn't necessary," Pakura said.

"Huh? How is it not necessary? Everyone seems to eat you with their eyes. I think you should change your clothing style—you leave too much to the imagination of perverts," Daigo said, turning to leave.

"Are you saying my outfit is what causes those looks?"

"Yes—and not only that, I'll just say that any man would love to be with someone like you. Bye," Daigo finished saying, leaving a blushing Pakura at his words.

Daigo, arriving at his room, went straight to the shower—then took his well-deserved rest and thanked whoever the person or god was that brought him to this world.
