Conrad did not waste any time and quickly contacted Izbis again, and then the duo met in the open area again.
Conrad sat down on a rock and gestured for Izbis to sit. Izbis sat and looked at Conrad.
"I want to ask you one more question before I answer your questions."
"Is that alright with you?"
Izbis nodded.
"Do you give anything to Virdis in return for his protection and existence in this area?"
Izbis thought and then nodded.
"I am not sure."
"We have a tradition that honors him."
Conrad asked again.
"What do you do to honor him?"
Conrad wanted to know if Izbis and other Viridians, as they call themselves, perform an action to honor Virdis.
He wanted to know what Virdis is gaining from the new ability that he performed on Viridians; what is the relationship of give and take between two existences?
Izbis then spoke.
"First we gather mushrooms all around the area; we do this every week."
"Then we made a get-together and made a circle, and then after some words of honoring Virdis, we took the mushrooms we collected and placed them on our Viridian Breathing Organs."
"Our organ then consumes these mushrooms and gives us power, vitality..."
Conrad nodded; he put his finger on his chin and nodded again and again.
"Okay."
"What they are doing is collecting materials for Virdis and then using the mushroom on their right shoulder to send it to him."
"It could be energy or the mushroom itself."
"They gain some power and ability to breathe and live in this environment in return."
"They may not know, but this weekly tradition must be a condition of the non-ability of Virdis."
Conrad then smiled at Izbis and said.
"Okay, thank you for answering my questions. I have more for you, but it is your turn to ask me."
Izbis nodded and asked.
"Can you tell me how you are able to enter our place?"
"People like you tried to enter, but they only came at the very most to the region of Viridian Mushroom."
Conrad confirmed.
"Do you mean Region Viridian Mushroom, that forest filled with mushrooms right?"
Izbis nodded.
Conrad then said.
"I am sure you can sense it too."
"The special gas life aura around me."
Izbis nodded.
"Yes, all Viridians know it, our ancestors too; it is the life energy of a living being."
Conrad nodded.
"I am able to manipulate it to protect myself against the dangerous environment."
Izbis asked.
"Why did other humans not enter like you then?"
Conrad smiled.
"I am a special human."
"They are not good at controlling the life energy like me, so they are not capable of entering this area."
Izbis then asked again.
"There are humans who have no life energy around them, but they were still able to enter..."
"They were wearing weird things."
Conrad nodded.
"Those are ordinary humans with no capability or training to control life energy on their own."
"Because of that, they use special materials and tools to protect themselves and enter the area you called Region Viridian Mushroom."
"I am sure their technology is not that high to enter this valley."
Izbis nodded.
"The outside of this area is dangerous."
"How are humans capable of living and surviving?"
Conrad thought for a moment before answering.
Now, he was not sure if Izbis knew that the "Viridian Area" is no longer in the Dark Continent but in the Known Continent, also known as the Human World.
For him, it is expected that he would think that a race like humans, where the individuals have no life energy naturally surviving, is something unheard of.
"Do I tell him?" Conrad thought.
He then asked a question.
"What do you know about the outside world, Izbis?"
"Or your ancestors, where they lived before they came here."
"I think you have past knowledge of the area."
Izbis thought and then moved back and forth for a moment to speak.
"Truth be told...."
"You are right."
"As our race never left the area for thousands of years, it is blocked for us."
"We don't know what is on the outside."
"Our ancestor, the first ancestor that spoke to Virdis and made this area our home, also added a rule of some sort."
Conrad gulped.
"Tell me about it?"
Izbis took a piece of stick from the ground, and some aura started manifesting from his body to the stick.
He then started making some shapes on the ground.
Conrad inspected the shapes.
"Some sort of a map?" he thought.
Izbis then spoke.
"According to our traditions and rules."
"Our first ancestor told us to forget everything about our past experiences as a race."
"The general area and everything."
"With his orders, past generations of our race never recorded about our experiences that do not belong to Viridian..."
"Then, we forget about everything."
Conrad nodded.
"These symbols and areas are what I remember, but they only consist of the area of Viridian. There is no knowledge existing today that would give me information about the past of Viridian."
Conrad nodded and let out a cold breath.
"So."
"First Ancestor also agreed to never think about the 'Dark Continent Area.' 'Virdis made them slowly forget about their roots in return for a safe area, the ability to have vitality and power, a protected general location..."
"In return, he demanded the life of the ancestor and placed the 'Mushroom' on their shoulders and weekly honor."
"The limitations of never leaving the Viridian Area and forgetting about the dark continent and their past are also involved in this."
Conrad did not want to say it to Izbis, but in his eyes everything is clear now.
"He used their wish to be safe and well to put them under a new ability."
"Now only an individual, a whole race, in return for safe space; he is farming the whole race."
"He also made them forget about their past so that they would have no reason to go to the past and stop the ability in a way."
"An exchange that favors him."
Conrad then could not help but ask.
"What if danger is not caused by the environment of the dark continent but also some sort of an action taken by Virdis to make them deal with him?"
"If danger is from Virdis, he is also the savior."
"A great design of stick and flowers..."
