Chapter 23 - V2 Chapter 3:

Development abilities were attainable with each level up, at least in most cases.

They were a sort of skill or rather ability you could obtain thanks to your experiences up to that moment in time.

For example if you worked as an apprentice to a blacksmith for you whole life before becoming a Level 2, the chances were great that you would get the option to choose Blacksmith.

There were a great number of these such abilities.

Ranging from common ones like Swordsman, and Mage.

Crafting ones like Blacksmith and Alchemy.

Even specialized ones like Healer, or Abnormal Resistance.

Different from skills which were thought to be innate, these abilities would grow with you as a person.

Though historically no ones DA had ever seen growth beyond rank C, and even then that was when the retired adventurer had consigned themselves to the workshop, smithing day in and day out until their death.

No one, not even the gods knew how to rank up these abilities, some did so upon a level up, others upon completing a great feat, and some just took time… a lot of time.

But for Neme, a man without a Falna what abilities could he possibly unlock upon reaching the next rank.

Seeing no harm in finding out he mentally tapped the + symbol in his status.

Winemakers Blessing:

Intoxicating Presence:

Soma's Gift:

Bacchanalian Frenzy:

Sommelier's Sense:

Eucharist of the Vine:

Thanks to this a list appeared before him, six options to choose from… six suspiciously named options.

All of which seemed directly related to a specific divine presence that was no longer of the living.

The powers of Soma as it were, only contorted into a form possibly usable by him, the good news of course was his system did grant him a bit of a cheat, allowing the choice of two of these options.

And just like the gods, when listing out the options for their children, the system allowed Neme access to the basic information related to each of the six choices before him now.

Winemakers Blessing: Improves Crafting Skill and Ability particularly in brewing concotions

Useful I guess if I wanted to take up Alchemy, as any potions I made would have an enhanced effect but not something I can support doing right now.

Intoxicating Presence: Grants the bearer the ability to emit a powerful aura that can intoxicate or disorient enemies, or beings in the surrounding making them vulnerable to attack

Very promising, sort of like Freya's charm ability but if it works on Monsters as well as Humans this would be a weapon that could be refined into a serious threat to even the Black Dragon lurking below in the depths of the Dungeon.

Soma's Gift: The bearer is given the ability to produce Divine Wine's, imbuing those who consume temporary boosts to strength, agility, and magic.

Effectively alchemy, though more of a Buffing sort of alchemy, though different from the first skill, it doesn't specify brewing, so perhaps I can just manifest it out of thin air like water magic?

Bacchanalian Frenzy: Puts the user into a state of frenzied combat, increase their speed and aggression, while also making them more resistant to pain and damage, however at the cost of sanity until the state ends.

Simply put an enhanced Berserker ability, though there is surely a cost greater than just the loss of sanity from a drunken rage, perhaps a sort of hangover once it ends?

Sommelier's Sense: Enhances the bearers senses, heightening smell, taste, and sight to greater heights.

A passive though on that does increase the ability to quite literally sniff out danger.

Eucharist of the Vine: Enables he bearer to heal wounds and restore energy through the production and distribution of divine wine.

The first and only healing ability, though it seems different from Soma's gift, in that rather than buff's these would be more like actual healing or Mind potions.

With all the abilities laid bare before him Neme descended into thought, he'd only get this choice once, since upon reaching Level 3 he'd likely get a new list of godly talents to choose from depending on who he killed next, assuming that was still the requirement to level up.

Though choosing two from among those offered to him now…

He would choose Eucharist of the Vine, and Winemakers Blessing, this would offer him a means of infinite supply of potions from which to keep himself in tip top condition while also further boost their own effect thanks to the effect of the other ability.

Though perhaps getting the buff ability along with Winemakers blessing was better, to give him an increased buff to his status, meaning beyond being a limit breaker he could further transcend those boundaries.

As for enhanced senses… that's a pass.

Same for the Berserker skill.

At this stage he didn't need to worry about assassination type monsters except for the War Shadows but they were easy to deal with right now.

And losing his mind while possibly suffering a backlash later on didn't sound like a fair trade to him.

And lasty while Intoxicating presence make sense to him its actual affect was unknown.

What kind of intoxication?

Would it put them to sleep like lightweight drinkers?

Or worse would they become angry drunks?

The other effect would be great in that it could disorient the opponent, but still compared to the others known effects.

It was a bit lacking.

Then thinking on it further, why choose only one when he could choose to expand his alchemy repitoire by choosing both crafting based abilities.

Forgoing the boon one instead.

Giving him the power to create Buff Potions, or healing potions, but just regular ones rather than one with a boosted ability.

So with that resolve, he selected to obtain Soma's Gift, and Eucharist of the Vine.

Both abilities had joined his status, though as soon as they were there, while he had learned that production of divine wine was indeed like conducting water magic, the very production came at a cost, a mixture of both magic and stamina.

So due to being in the middle of the dungeon and not having a receptacle in which to keep the produced potions, he saved testing it for now.

First came finishing his current dive, earning as many points as he could to boost his parameters but mostly to boost the stamina and magic ones to increase the potency and production capability of his divine wine.
