Nora's POV
"Finally," I breathe out when the doorbell chimes through the house. It's just past nine, and my stomach has been growling for the last hour. Last night was rough - tossing and turning, waking up with my heart pounding from nightmares I can't piece together.
The kitchen was practically empty except for Antonia's guinea pig vegetables, some leftover pizza that looked questionable, and boxes of mac and cheese. But the milk had gone sour and we were out of butter. I was ready to brave the cold and grab something myself when James called Flora, one of the humans who handles errands for him and other vampires who own businesses around town. I haven't seen her in months, and I'm genuinely shocked by how healthy she looks compared to the last time I saw her - when she resembled a walking blood bank after her vampire boyfriend had been feeding on her constantly while Antonia was sleeping with him behind her back.
