Nora's POV
A bitter laugh escapes my throat. "I won't make deals with demons."
She rolls her eyes and drops her hand with obvious frustration. "Nothing binding, I understand the reluctance. Just agree to a conversation? We can wait until the bar opens, which benefits me more than you anyway. We both know you're the stronger one here."
"Sweet talk won't work on me, and you've ruined my lunch. I wanted zero demon thoughts today, much less an actual conversation with one." I raise my eyebrows pointedly. "Yet here we are."
"I apologize," she says, and the remorse seems genuine. "I cornered you because I lost my nerve yesterday. This felt safer somehow."
"You've been body-hopping just to stalk me?" I demand.
"Guilty as charged."
"Disgusting." I close my eyes and exhale slowly. My mind feels scrambled, making rational decisions nearly impossible. There's a decent chance this demon speaks some version of truth. Maybe she genuinely opposes Leonard's takeover, but an alliance?
