Chapter 24 - CHAPTER-23 "THE NEW VILLIAN "

Leah drifted through the air, her essence flickering like a candle in a storm.

She watched, invisible and helpless, as Kayla was rushed to another emergency ward for treatment.

The doctors returned their focus to Leah's body, their faces etched with deep frustration and defeat.

They struggled to revive her, but the monitors showed only a weak, shallow rhythm that threatened to flatline.

"Leah inhaled a lethal amount of poisonous gas," the lead doctor said, his voice heavy with grim certainty.

"Every treatment we have performed on her up to this point has been wasted."

"The chances of Leah surviving now are extremely low—perhaps only one to two percent."

"If her condition does not show a miracle within the next three days, she will die in this state of coma."

The nurses stood in shocked silence, unable to comprehend the sudden turn of events.

"Kayla is stable," a nurse reported, breaking the quiet. "She is unconscious but breathing normally."

"It appears Kayla was not nearly as affected by the poisonous gas as Miss Leah."

The doctors looked at each other in total disbelief, their medical logic failing them.

"How is that even possible?" the senior doctor asked.

"Leah's condition became critical almost instantly, yet Kayla was trapped in the same room for the same duration."

"Kayla's case is a medical anomaly compared to Leah's."

The Vice Chairman of the hospital arrived, his voice booming with authority and rage as he addressed the staff.

"How can a poisonous gas cylinder be found in a patient's room?" he shouted at the trembling nurses.

"Who brought this here? I want all the details and I want the police called immediately!"

"This was not an accident—someone tried to kill both Leah and Kayla."

"I don't know, sir," the nurse replied, her voice shaking. "But we have already informed the police."

Standing invisible in the corner, the spectral Leah noticed a dark shadow lingering near the door.

She tried to focus her energy to see his face, but her soul was too weak, and her vision remained blurry.

A man wearing a black hoodie, his face completely obscured, watched the chaos with a cold, triumphant smile.

He turned slowly and began walking away from the hospital wing with calculated calm.

A nurse met him in a secluded hallway, and the man handed her a thick bundle of cash.

"Sir, your task will be fulfilled," the nurse whispered, tucking the money away.

"I will kill the girl."

The man nodded silently, his eyes dark with malice, and walked out into the night.

In the Kingston mansion, Leo's phone vibrated violently, and he answered it with a sharp scowl.

"WHAT?" he shouted, his voice echoing through the empty halls.

"HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?"

He gripped the phone tighter, his knuckles turning white as he listened to the voice on the other end.

"I will come to that place right now," he snapped, cutting the call abruptly.

"Darn it!" he hissed to himself. "Easton will never leave me in peace."

"How could he get himself arrested by the police? And why now?"

"Whatever the reason, I have to get to him and bring him home before my father finds out about this."

Leo grabbed his car keys and stormed out of the house, his mind a whirlwind of anger and confusion.

Even as he sped through the midnight streets, the image of Elsa refused to leave his mind.

He slammed his hand against the steering wheel in sheer frustration.

"There has to be a limit, Miss Elsa!" he growled at the empty passenger seat.

"Why are you in my mind and in my heart every single moment? Why can't I stop thinking about you?"

"WHY DID YOU ENTER MY LIFE AND DISTURB MY INNER PEACE?"

He pushed the accelerator, the engine roaring as he drove like a madman through the dark.

"ELSA!" he shouted into the night air.

"WHERE ARE YOU?"
