Chapter 33 - Graduation day

[University Auditorium - One Week Later]

Rain stood in his cap and gown, diploma in hand, surrounded by people he loved. Sky was there with his boyfriend Pai, the entire Theerapanyakul family filled a row, and Prapai stood closest, camera in hand.

"Speech! Speech!" Sky chanted.

Rain laughed. "I'm not giving a speech—"

"But you should," Professor Sakchai interrupted, joining them. "Rain, your thesis was exceptional. The university wants to feature it in our journal. And several firms have already contacted me asking about you."

Rain felt pride bloom. He'd done this.

Despite everything Phayu had done, Rain had finished his degree, excelled even.

"Photos!" Porsche insisted,

They took dozens—Rain with Sky, with the family, with Prapai. Each click of the camera captured joy, survival, hope.

Later, at the graduation dinner, Pete stood to make a toast.

"To Rain," Pete said, his voice emotional.

"Who showed us all what strength really means. Who survived, healed, and thrived. We're honored to know you."

"To Rain!" everyone echoed.

Rain felt tears threatening but smiled through them. "Thank you. All of you. I wouldn't be here without you."

Prapai squeezed his hand under the table. "Yes, you would. You're stronger than you know."

"But I didn't have to be strong alone," Rain corrected. "That's the difference."

[Estate - Late Night]

Rain and Prapai sat on the balcony, the graduation party winding down inside.

"What are you thinking?" Prapai asked.

"That a year ago, I thought my life was over. Thought I'd never escape, never heal, never be happy." Rain looked at the stars. "And now I'm here. Graduated, employed, in love. It feels surreal."

"It's real," Prapai promised. "This is your life now. The one you built."

"We built," Rain corrected.

Prapai pulled out a small box, and Rain's breath caught.

"It's not what you think," Prapai said quickly. "Not a ring. Not yet. But... I wanted to give you something. A promise."

Inside was a simple bracelet—silver with a small compass charm.

"So you always remember you choose your own direction," Prapai explained. "No one controls where you go anymore. Not me, not anyone."

Rain's eyes filled with tears. "Pai..."

"I love you, Rain. I want forever with you. But on your terms, your timeline. This is just a reminder that you're free. Always free."

Rain let Prapai fasten the bracelet, then kissed him—deeper than before, with passion and promise.

"I love you too," Rain breathed. "Thank you for giving me back my freedom. For never making me feel trapped."

"That's what love should be," Prapai said. "Freedom, not a cage."

They sat together under the stars, planning their future—a future Rain had once thought impossible.
