Chapter 36 - Choosing love

[Prapai's Room - Night]

Rain sat on the bed, his heart pounding but his mind clear. This was his choice. His decision. His terms.

Prapai stood by the door, giving Rain space. "We can just sleep.. There's no pressure—"

"Pai, come here." Rain extended his hand.

Prapai approached slowly, taking Rain's hand. "Tell me what you need."

"I need you to go slow. To check in constantly. To stop if I ask, no questions." Rain looked up. "And I need you to understand that I might have flashbacks or panic. That's not your fault."

"Understood. Rain, we stop the moment you're uncomfortable. This is about you feeling safe and loved."

"I already feel that," Rain said softly. "That's why I'm ready."

They kissed, gentle at first, then deeper. Prapai's hands moved carefully, always asking permission—with words or questioning looks.

"Can I?" Prapai asked, fingers at Rain's shirt buttons.

"Yes."

Each item of clothing removed was done with care, with consent, with constant communication.

When they were both undressed, Prapai paused. "Still okay?"

"Yes. Nervous, but okay." Rain reached up, pulling Prapai down. "Make love to me, P'Pai. Not like him. Show me what it should be."

"I'm not phayu" prapai said..

What followed was gentle, communicative, and healing. Prapai checked in constantly—"Is this okay?" "Does this hurt?" "Do you want to stop?"

Rain answered honestly, guiding Prapai, taking control of his own pleasure in a way he'd never been able to before.

When Rain's body tensed suddenly, Prapai stopped immediately. "Flashback?"

"Just a second. I'm okay. Keep going."

"We can stop—"

"I don't want to stop. I want to replace bad memories with good ones." Rain breathed through the moment. "I'm okay now. Please, P'Pai."

They continued, Prapai's patience infinite, Rain's trust absolute.

When they finished, Rain was crying—but not from pain or fear.

"Happy tears?" Prapai asked, concerned.

"Happy tears," Rain confirmed. "That was... Pai, that was beautiful. Nothing like before. Everything I needed it to be."

Prapai held him close, neither rushing to separate. "Thank you for trusting me. For letting me love you."

"Thank you for showing me what love should feel like."

They lay together, Rain feeling whole in a way he hadn't since before Phayu.

[Morning After]

Rain woke wrapped in Prapai's arms, feeling safe and cherished. No regrets, no shame, no fear.

"Morning," Prapai murmured, still half-asleep.

"Morning." Rain kissed his shoulder. "Last night was perfect."

"Yeah?" Prapai looked at him, "No regrets? No bad feelings?"

"None. It was exactly what I needed." Rain smiled. "You're exactly what I need."

"Rain, I have to tell you something."

"What?"

"I want to marry you. Someday. Not now—I know we need more time. But someday, when you're ready, I want forever with you."

Rain felt joy bloom in his chest. "Someday sounds perfect. When I'm fully healed, when I can say yes without fear—ask me then."

"I will," Prapai promised. "I'll wait as long as it takes."

They spent the morning in bed, talking and laughing and planning a future that once seemed impossible.

Rain had survived hell.

He'd healed from unimaginable trauma.

And now he was building a life—a love—that was wholly, beautifully his own...
