Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-3

I started a fortune-telling live stream. My first match was an 800-pound cutie.

The first thing she said was, "My boyfriend loves me so, so much. Can you tell me when he's going to propose?"

But I saw a black aura swirling around the woman's face. A quick divination told me she would die in her home's storeroom in ten minutes.

And the one who would kill her was her boyfriend.

"My boyfriend loves me so, so much! Not only does he work all day to support me, but he even comes home after work and cooks delicious food for me."

"He won't let me work, and I don't have to do any chores. All I have to do is wait for him at home like a good girl."

Su Nian was a fortune-telling streamer.

This was the sixth love-struck fool to connect to Su Nian's stream today.

But unlike the previous five, Su Nian saw a black aura on this one's face.

After a quick divination, Su Nian determined she would die a horrible death in her home's storeroom in ten minutes.

And the one who would kill her was her boyfriend.

As a fortune-telling streamer, Su Nian felt a professional obligation to give her a kind warning. "Open that brown door behind you."

But to her surprise, the love-struck fool not only didn't believe her but continued to show off her relationship. "That's my boyfriend's tool room. It's a total mess in there, and the light is broken. My boyfriend never lets me go in because he's afraid I'll get hurt. Besides, I don't even have the key!"

Only Su Nian could see a faint, blood-red aura beginning to spread across her forehead.

It was the sign of someone on the verge of death!

She only had eight minutes left to live!

Su Nian frowned and told her, "The key is behind the black-and-white mural behind you."

The girl walked over doubtfully and actually found a key. Through the camera, her expression was one of surprise as she looked at Su Nian. "How did you know there was a key here?"

Su Nian sighed. 'I not only know there's a key,' she thought, 'I also know what your boyfriend has hidden in that storeroom.'

After opening the storeroom door, the girl only saw a rusty saw. Her tone was a bit impatient. "See? I told you there was nothing in here."

At that moment, she had five minutes left to live.

With a love-struck fool like this, seeing is believing.

Su Nian prompted, "Open the jewelry box on the bottom shelf."

The girl saw the exquisite jewelry box under the shelf, a hint of excitement in her eyes. "Ooh, could this be a surprise my boyfriend prepared for me?"

Staring at the faint wisp of resentful ghostly energy leaking from the box,

and hearing the love-struck fool say that, Su Nian had only one thought: 'Dude, you have got to be kidding me!'

Who hides a surprise in a pitch-black storeroom and sticks a talisman paper on it?

SNAP!

"Ah!"

A piercing scream immediately followed from the other end of the stream.

The terrified girl dropped her phone on the floor, the camera lens pointing directly at the contents of the wooden box.

A beautiful, perfectly preserved, and exquisitely made-up woman's head.

She picked up the phone, trembling. The girl who had been rosy-cheeked and glowing just moments ago was now pale with fright, her lips trembling, unable to utter a single word.

It was at this moment that Su Nian got a clear look at the girl's face.

A thick, bloody aura was surging around her—the sign of a life-threatening calamity!

She only had three minutes left!

"Close the door! Quick!"

Su Nian's expression turned grim as she urgently warned her.

Before the girl could even get up from the floor, a man's voice came from outside, his footsteps drawing closer. "Not home?"

It was her boyfriend!

The murderous maniac was back!

The will to survive overcame her fear. The girl scrambled up from the floor and bolted the storeroom door shut.

She no longer dared to mention her "surprise gift" or her "darling boyfriend."

Hearing the lock click, the man's footsteps changed direction, heading unerringly toward her.

"Baby, are you in the storeroom? That's a little naughty..."

Her boyfriend's voice seeped through the door like a Demon's whisper.

The girl cowered in the corner, her legs so weak from terror she could barely stand. Her lips were white, and tears were welling in her eyes.

Trembling, she could only plead to Su Nian through the phone screen, "I... save... save me..."

Su Nian nodded slightly. Saving a life would earn her a great deal of merit.

On the surface, she made a living from her fortune-telling streams, but in reality, she was the daughter of the richest man in the country.

This session wouldn't earn her much money anyway. Su Nian wasn't in it for the cash; she was in it for the merit.

So, of course, she would save this life.

"Baby, it's okay if you don't open the door. I have a spare key, hehe~"

Along with the killer's voice came the sound of the doorknob turning.

CLANG.

The door... opened...

The killer appeared in the doorway. Not only did he have a creepy, unsettling look on his face, but he was also holding a meat cleaver!

He squinted, his gaze fixed on the girl's pale, slender neck.

He seemed to be contemplating the best angle to swing from.

Su Nian quickly yelled at the girl still cowering in the corner, "Quick, throw the head at him!"

Driven by the perverse desire to preserve the head, the man reached out to catch it.

The girl seized the opportunity, using the momentary distraction to bolt past him and out the door.

"Honey, why did you kill me~?"

The beautiful head spoke!

And it was smiling!

The woman's mournful voice suddenly echoed from the killer's hands, even though she was clearly dead!

The man stiffly lowered his head to look.

"AHHH!!!"

A bloodcurdling scream erupted behind her, and the girl ran even faster.

She didn't bother to close the door. The screen only showed the girl running for her life, accompanied by the WHOOSH of the wind.

The viewers, who had been holding their breath, finally exploded. A flood of comments scrolled across the screen.

[OMG!]

[Just randomly clicked on this, may all bad luck be dispelled!]

[Sob sob sob, this is so scary. I'm alone right now, looking for something in my storeroom.]

[That almost scared the life out of me.]

[So this is the legendary super-sweet boyfriend? Calling him a murderer seems more accurate.]

Stumbling her way downstairs, in her panic, the girl had already bumped into things and covered her body in bruises.

But she paid them no mind, sprinting all the way to the entrance of her residential complex. It was only when she heard the voices of passersby that she finally felt like she was alive.

She kept running, shouting, "Help! Help! Somebody help me!!!"

When she finally saw pedestrians on the street and knew she was safe, Ah Xue collapsed onto the ground and, with no regard for her appearance, began to sob her heart out.

Her once-fair, gently smiling face was now streaked with strands of sweat-dampened hair.

Even her clothes and face were smudged with dirt and dust.

A crowd had already gathered around her, and she saw security guards hurrying over.

But even so, her limbs were weak, she couldn't stand up straight, her face was ashen, and her eyes were brimming with tears.

[Holy crap, so this was actually real!]

[I'm sure it's real. If this girl was acting, then winning an Oscar would be a shoo-in for her!]

[This streamer is the real deal!]

[At the end, did you guys hear a woman's voice?]

[It must have been the head.]

[Could it have been a ghost?]

[The streamer is amazing!]

[Seriously amazing, this streamer is a god!]

Su Nian ignored the clamor in the chat, waiting until Ah Xue had calmed down a bit.

"Today... thank you so much for your help, Master Bailian. I need to go... calm down now."

Gone was the air of a stubbornly love-struck fool. Compared to being in love, her life was obviously more important.

Seeing her condition, Su Nian was understanding. She smiled slightly and said, "Of course. Once you get things sorted out, you can connect with me again and give everyone an update."

Ah Xue's face was still incredibly pale, but she managed a weak smile. "Okay. Goodbye, Heavenly Venerable Bailian."

With that, she disconnected.
