The girl was left speechless and could only ask, "What do you want?"
"What do I want?" Vera said with a smile. "Whatever you were planning to do to me, I'm going to do to you!"
The girls could see it now—at her core, she was a demon! And they were no match for her at all.
The girl who had spoken earlier hesitated for a moment before saying, "We were just hired help for today. We don't have any personal grudge against you. If you want revenge, you should go find Autumn Rhodes. She's the one who told us to come after you."
"Autumn Rhodes?" Vera frowned. She was a bit surprised. All along, she'd assumed this was Susan Caldwell's handiwork.
"Yes, it was her," the girl said through gritted teeth. "If we hadn't come to rough you up today, she would have made our lives at school a living hell."
She added, "But if we'd known how tough you are before we came, we never would have come, no matter how difficult she made things for us."
