Before Aiden Shaw could even look up, a warm, gentle voice floated out.
Laura Lowell led Yvonne Sloan by the hand into the dining room. "Aiden, guess who this is?"
Only then did Aiden Shaw raise his head. His deep, dark eyes lingered on Yvonne Sloan for a few seconds before turning to Laura Lowell. "I don't believe I know her, do I?"
His well-defined fingers reached behind him to untie his apron, the movements both elegant and refined.
"It's Yvonne Sloan. I found her."
Laura Lowell excitedly introduced him to Yvonne Sloan. "This is my boyfriend, Aiden Shaw."
"You'd never guess, he's that boy from the orphanage who always protected me and brought snacks for everyone."
Aiden Shaw was standing against the light, a warm halo outlining his tall frame and lending him a more down-to-earth air.
Yvonne Sloan looked at him, the corners of her mouth lifting into a lovely smile. "So you're the Shaw from all those years ago. And you two ended up together."
