The little girl wanted to stay with her.
Cecilia Adler stroked her hair fondly and set some food in front of her. "Eat something if you're hungry. If you get sleepy, just go back to sleep. And don't open the door if someone knocks, okay?"
"Okay."

Time slipped by, and as it neared 10 PM, Cecilia Adler went out the main gate to the intersection to pick up a delivery.
After about five minutes, the delivery guy's truck came into view.
She directed the guy where to park, and then they started unloading the cargo together.
As they entered the courtyard, he noticed men's clothes hanging on the clothesline. "How come your husband never comes out to give you a hand?" he asked. He had made several deliveries here, and she was always the one doing the work.
Cecilia Adler made an excuse. "My husband is tired from tutoring our child."
"You have a kid? You don't look very old."
