As she pushed her bicycle, Bonnie Halloway asked, "Adler, is there no one at home to look after your little sister?"
"Yes, but she's actually my daughter," Cecilia Adler explained openly.
"Your daughter? But aren't you a newlywed? Did your husband have her on the side?"
"No, my husband is completely innocent. It's too complicated to explain in a few words. In any case, I'm the child's mother." Cecilia Adler lifted the little girl onto the back seat of the bicycle, swung her leg over, and told her to hold on tight. After saying goodbye to Bonnie Halloway, she rode off. They stopped at a small eatery for some wontons, and then, as usual, headed to Teacher Kent's home.
Both Teacher Kent and his wife were home.
Cecilia introduced her to the couple. "Teacher Kent, Mrs. Kent, this is my daughter. Claire, call them Grandpa and Grandma."
"Hello, Grandpa and Grandma."
"Oh, hello there. This child looks so bright," Mrs. Kent said with a kind smile, taking out some grapes for them.
