A knock came at the door.
"Coming." When Cecilia Adler saw who it was, her face fell. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, Cecilia, my dear girl," May Sutton said, looking utterly remorseful. "I've done you wrong, please don't hold it against me. I know I was wrong."
Cecilia Adler was deeply suspicious. "Auntie, what's this act you're putting on?"
"No more acts. I wouldn't dare cause trouble again," May Sutton said, apologizing profusely. "Cecilia, please forgive me and put in a good word for me with your father-in-law. I'd be so grateful..."
