Jared Woods had barely finished speaking when Chelsea Raines pinched his arm. She hadn't used much force, but Jared, who was spoiled rotten, immediately burst into tears.
All eyes turned to them.
A nerve throbbed in Chelsea Raines's temple. "What's wrong, Jared?"
Jared Woods pointed at Chelsea Raines, crying as he accused her, "Mommy, why did you pinch me...?"
Not expecting Jared to be so blunt, Chelsea's face flushed with embarrassment. Fortunately, Renee Jennings came to her rescue.
"Jared, your mom just wanted to get your attention. Maybe she was a little rough by accident," she said with a smile. "One time, on a whim, I wanted to do Nathan's hair, but I accidentally used too much force and pulled out a few strands. I felt so bad about it I couldn't sleep that night."
Margaret Jennings nodded in agreement. "Still, it's best to be careful. Children's skin is more delicate."
Chelsea Raines nodded as if she'd learned her lesson.
