Noelle Young was surprised to learn that Thomas Sinclair also loved the stars.
It wasn't until she got into his SUV that she saw the professional-grade telescope and tent inside.
She recalled that her father had a similar set of equipment for his own nighttime stargazing trips.
"If I'd known you liked this, I would've brought you sooner. There's a fantastic spot on the grassland for stargazing."
The smile on Thomas Sinclair's face was a little brighter than usual.
He drove the car to the shore of Lake Doronbes and set up the tent.
He pointed at the sky. "This is the most beautiful place to watch a meteor shower. Here, have a seat."
Noelle Young looked down and saw that Thomas Sinclair had laid out a blanket for her on the ground and set up the telescope.
It was her first time stargazing like this, and she felt a small thrill of excitement.
