The stargazing trip brought a new, like-minded friend into Noelle Young's life: a guy quite a bit older than her.
He was, she'd heard, also a graduate student.
She had originally thought he was an art student, but to her surprise, he was actually studying finance.
"You're so good at drawing. Why did you study finance?" Noelle Young asked.
Thomas Sinclair peeled an apple for her and said with a smile, "Life is often beyond our control. Someone always has to give things up so that more people can achieve their dreams."
Noelle Young asked, "Don't you ever feel bitter about it?"
"Sometimes, a little. But it was my choice, after all. There's no use in regretting it, so it's better to look forward and try my best. Hey, I've noticed you really like apples, huh?"
Seeing how quickly Noelle Young finished the apple, devouring it in just a few bites, Thomas Sinclair peeled another one for her.
Noelle Young smiled and took it. "Where did you buy these? They're delicious."
