Chapter 108: The New Ruler of Fury Road
This reform lasted a long time, but Jake left all these tasks to Furiosa, while he himself spent his days decorating his quarters with the War Boys, clearing out the filth, and so on.
That morning,
Furiosa came to say goodbye; she wanted to embark on her journey back to her homeland.
"Actually, your homeland is pretty much the same as here now," Jake told her bluntly, "but your people are still there. If you want to go, then go."
"How did you know?" Furiosa's eyes widened instantly. She had never told anyone that she wanted to go home; it was a goal buried deep in her heart.
"Don't forget, I'm Father," Jake smiled mysteriously, offering no further explanation.
In this world, everything that couldn't be explained was simply attributed to mystery.
Recalling Jake's extraordinary abilities, Furiosa had to nod. Indeed, with Jake's miraculous methods, it wasn't surprising that he knew these things.
She didn't even doubt whether Jake was telling the truth or not. "Thank you. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't even know anything about my people."
"After you return home, I hope you can come back. This place needs you, my Knight Commander."
Furiosa's eyes showed emotion as she looked at Jake and nodded.
"If your people are willing, bring them back here with you."
That same day, Furiosa drove away in a heavy metal war rig, accompanied by more than twenty apprentice knights whose white paint had been removed, heavily armed.
This force was enough to dominate many small wasteland factions.
After Furiosa left, Jake didn't rest. He began the next phase of construction and internal organization.
The Bullet Farm had been reduced to rubble by a single missile, and the remaining factory equipment had long since been moved back by his forces.
Gas Town, on the other hand, had a large amount of gasoline stored there. Upon inspection, Jake discovered that it was actually an oil field that was almost depleted!
Adhering to the principle of not wasting resources, Jake directly increased manpower to accelerate fuel extraction. He had no intention of slow, sustainable development; the most important thing was to extract all the resources quickly and leave nothing for others.
Did he intend to leave them for others to rebuild their resources, only to be eliminated in a conflict?
For several days, fuel tankers constantly shuttled between the two locations.
This was the short-term benefit of his rapid extraction.
Besides consolidating the two factions, Jake didn't forget to build his own facility.
He transferred numerous excavators, elevators, and steel from other worlds.
With a massive blueprint in hand, he began construction.
He reinforced the rock formations, layering large stones and gravel onto the sand, finally paving it with concrete.
He also continuously purchased soil from other worlds.
Since the soil in this world was unusable, he would import it from other worlds. Life-giving soil, more valuable than gold here, was practically free in other worlds; all that was needed was the dimensional travel.
This wasn't to say he intended to invest in improving this world; after all, it was his future base, and some improvements were necessary.
His faith system also needed to be supplemented. He found the concept of the Order very interesting, applicable to many other worlds. Therefore, he drafted the Order's doctrine.
Simply put, it involved adapting from various philosophical and religious texts, making modifications.
He enriched the doctrine, reading scriptures to the apprentice knights every day like a spiritual leader. As he read more and more, he felt subtle changes within himself—a kind of spiritual transcendence and satisfaction.
Fortunately, he only believed in himself; otherwise, some deity in another world might have gained another dimension-hopping believer.
Many days later, Furiosa finally returned. Half a month had passed, and her hair had grown considerably, giving her a somewhat softer appearance.
After a brief reception, Jake began to instruct Furiosa on the next steps.
"Have the apprentice knights build according to these blueprints," he said, taking out a stack of blueprints containing very detailed data, though few in this world could understand them.
The blueprints were first drawn by a professional architect, a miniature version of a magnificent and grand structure, resembling a cathedral.
The architectural plans, however, were obtained from construction professionals in the real world.
With such help, Jake's new building was halfway designed.
The next step was to execute the blueprints, which required considerable effort, especially for Jake, who knew nothing about architecture.
Fortunately, Jake only cared about appearances; he didn't care about perfect engineering, but it couldn't be a shoddy construction.
"I'm still worried about those fanatics," he instructed Furiosa. "If anyone disobeys orders, deal with them immediately."
He also brought many crop seeds, hoping to cultivate them in this world to alleviate hunger.
Of course, luxury items had to be strictly controlled, absolutely no one else could access them. The supplies, along with toiletries, though limited, were enough for a dozen people for half a year.
When he arrived, Jake had moved the supplies in several trips, but when he left, he left everything behind.
He even had to go back and change the excavator's rental status to purchase.
A long time passed again.
On the rock formation peak, on the observation platform,
Jake, still in his black suit, basked in the reverence of the apprentice knights.
This day, Jake prepared to leave. He had done all he needed to do. Now, all that remained was following Furiosa's leadership, directing the apprentice knights to build the facility while gradually releasing the slaves.
"Will you come back?" Furiosa asked, looking at Jake.
"Of course," he smiled and nodded. "This will be the main base of the Order from now on. How could I abandon it?"
He raised his right hand and waved to everyone. The feeling of being at the top was satisfying, but having people constantly kneeling before him meant there was no real connection.
He couldn't remain forever immersed in this feeling of power.
So, with everything nearly settled, he chose to leave.
He smiled at Furiosa again, and Jake vanished instantly.
His journey wouldn't stop here.
Fury Road, the new ruler, a seemingly god-like man.
Although everyone believed his power rivaled that of a deity, he himself only saw himself as Father guiding everyone.
Moreover, there are no gods in this world...
