Rowan frowned. "What do you mean?"
His father answered this time. "Powerful alphas do not bend easily.
His mother nodded. "We always hoped that when you found your mate, he would be strong enough to protect you, but not so strong that you would be helpless beside him."
Rowan's chest tightened painfully.
"You think I'm helpless," he said quietly.
"No," his mother said quickly. "That's not what I mean."
"But you're afraid," Rowan said.
She did not deny it.
"I am," she admitted honestly. "Because whatever left that scent on you is not ordinary. And ordinary problems are easy to solve, but big problems like yours, scares us, cause we know it won't be easy to resolve ."
Rowan felt like everything was slipping out of his control, piece by piece, he was already getting spooked by what his parents are saying.
"You know I didn't plan this," he said. "I didn't go looking for him."
His father studied him carefully. "Did he force you?"
