Chapter 6 - Hidden agendas

Li Wei's heart raced in the darkened office. The hand gripping his shoulder was firm, yet familiar. Slowly, he turned—and froze.

It wasn't Kai. It was Chen Ming, a former Silver Tower executive rumored to have vanished after a scandal years ago. His presence sent a shiver down Li Wei's spine.

"You're in over your head, kid," Chen said, his voice low, almost dangerous. "Kai is… not who you think he is. And neither is Silver Tower."

Li Wei swallowed hard. "What do you mean?"

Chen's eyes flickered to Kai, who had just emerged from the shadows, rain-soaked coat clinging to his body, looking more intense than ever. "The company is a maze of secrets. And the people you trust the most… might be the ones setting you up."

Kai's jaw tightened, and Li Wei noticed the rare vulnerability in his blue eyes. "Li Wei… listen to me," Kai said, voice strained. "There are things I can't explain—not yet. But you have to stay close. Trust me."

Li Wei's instincts screamed both danger and desire. Something about Kai's presence made him feel both safe and exposed at the same time.

Chen stepped closer, lowering his voice. "There's a file in Silver Tower. Something that could destroy everything. You need to get it before it's too late."

Before Li Wei could respond, a siren blared through the building. Emergency lights flashed red. Something—or someone—was in the tower.

Li Wei glanced at Kai. Their eyes locked. Kai's expression was unreadable—but the words he whispered sent shivers down Li Wei's spine: "We survive this… together or not at all."
