Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 : CEO

Cevil froze as he heard the familiar beeping sound. The door. Someone, presumably Josef, had entered, perhaps to check on KJ. As the door opened itself slowly, Cevil crouched, bending as low as possible, hoping the bed could cover him up. The wardrobe was on the other side of the room, it was hopeless getting there. KJ had also already closed the bathroom door. He had nowhere else to hide.

"Good evening, son." Josef glanced at KJ's new clothes and hair that was already almost dried after bathing, "You're smart. You found the bathroom," Josef said. "Still not asleep?" Josef asked, walking towards the bed, his boots tapping the floor loudly every step he took. KJ smiled briefly, "I would like to, but it looks like I can't sleep with this light on." He offered Josef a seat on his bed. "No, thank you. But, oh, I'm sorry. I forgotten to give you the light controller." He shoved a hand into his pocket and produced a small, vertical rectangular controller. There were two buttons, one with a green round circle on it, the other one a red round circle. Josef tossed the controller to KJ as he nodded his thanks. "Well, I bet Cevil wouldn't be able to sleep with the lights on. I'd better hurry to him and hand him his controller now," Josef chuckled, then he turned to leave.

"Wait!" Cevil heard KJ say. He could hear his own heart thumping very loud and fast. Josef's boots stopped tapping against the floor. He turned around, waiting for KJ to continue. "Do you mind if-" KJ paused, he jumped off his bed, his feet landing inches away from Cevil only, then he walked to Josef. "I did this?" Instantly, KJ lifted his hand and struck, hitting the position below Josef's left ear – his neck. KJ felt that Josef had ducked, his hands only slightly touching Josef's neck, instead of stabbing his neck. He doubted that he had succeeded in knocking out Josef until when Josef collapsed the next second, his legs folded and crumpled onto the ground. Cevil immediately crawled out, revealing his head behind the side of the bed. "He passed out, quickly get back to your room before anyone finds out," KJ said, scanning his door to open at the same time. Immediately, Cevil scrambled to his feet and left the room, scanned his card at the device then hurried into his room, afraid of getting discovered. His door closed just as Cevil heard two beeping sounds – doors opening. Footsteps were heard after the beeping sound, it was calm and slow, getting louder every second. Quickly and nervously, Cevil dived into his bed, threw the duvet over himself and shut his eyes tight. There was a second beeping sound, and Cevil knew this time it was his door that opened. He wanted to know what was happening, but he didn't dare to open his eyes. He wasn't even breathing. Cevil clenched his fists underneath his duvet and was trembling. Although there wasn't any sound of moving to be heard, Cevil could feel someone getting closer to him.

"CEO." A soft voice came into Cevil's ear. He immediately loosened his fists. This voice was very familiar, a gentle and friendly voice he had always been longing to hear ever since... and there was a beeping sound. He thought for a while, then his eyes flickered open. Half nervous, half excited, he sat up on his bed and called, "Marco!" before even checking who was around him. Someone had just spoken in his ear, but as Cevil scanned clearly, there was no one. He was staring at emptiness. But wait, no. Cevil watched closer; his door was closing slowly. Through the little gap, Cevil saw two tall figures and a shorter figure moving away. Then the door shut tight, and they disappeared behind. "Marco!" He flipped his duvet away, jumped off the bed and searched for his card. Immediately, he scanned his card and dashed out of the room, almost bumping into the door that was swinging open slowly. "Marco!" Cevil yelled again, speeding towards the people that were moving away. Now, he could figure them out. There was one sitting in an automatic wheelchair, the other two following besides. One of the walking figures was smaller sized with broad shoulders and silver Pompadour haircut – Konrad Ferando. The other one was black haired, tall and young, Cevil could tell who he was even looking from the back. That left the one in the wheelchair. Either they didn't know Cevil was following, or they didn't care about it. They continued moving forward, ignoring Cevil that was just a few paces behind. For a moment, he was afraid of calling them. He was afraid to know the truth, to know that Marco was disabled. But at last, he tried. "Marco," he muttered softly, his hand grabbing the wheelchair's handgrip. Everyone stopped moving for a while, but it felt like minutes had passed. Cevil was afraid. Despite himself, he hoped that the person in the wheelchair would be anyone but Marco.

Both standing beside the wheelchair turned around, facing Cevil. Fate looked serious, while Konrad was half smiling. "May your hand...?" Fate gestured at Cevil's hand that was grabbing the wheelchair's handgrip. Cevil let go his hand slowly, almost clueless. What should he do now? Grab the wheelchair and spin it around to check who's sitting in it? Or should he just walk around them to meet the person in the wheelchair? Or maybe perhaps going back to his room quickly would be the best choice. The person in the wheelchair continued his way forward alone as soon as Cevil let his hand go, leaving Fate and Konrad to deal with him. But Cevil already decided. He pushed his way past Fate and Konrad before they were able to react, then ran in front of the wheelchair, blocking the person's way. It was when Cevil found out who was sitting in the wheelchair.
