Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 : Hoverboard

Cevil was accompanied by KJ to somewhere outside the cave to get changed. Cevil's first time leaving the cave since he came, and the first time he had a proper view of outside. The sun was shining brightly and cheerfully, the sky was pale blue and there were barely any clouds. They were in a forest that seemed endless. What Cevil could see, the furthest sight, were trees. But there wasn't any sign of living creatures in it. No movements, no sound, completely nothing, it looked like the forest was dead itself. Cevil crouched behind one of the trees and got himself changed. A long sleeve black shirt, a thick black jacket with big deep pockets made of wool, and woolen pants, too, in black, and lastly a pair of boots, identical to KJ's. They were warm and comfortable, keeping him from the cold. He stuffed his pants and boots into the bag and went back to the cave with KJ. He had his breakfast too, sandwich and water. Cevil wanted to rest when he had finished, but Fate wouldn't allow it. Fate got Cevil and KJ to learn how to use a hoverboard, move and travel with it. Going on foot would be tiring, so it would be better to travel on two big wheels.

The moment Cevil stepped onto the hoverboard with both feet, he wobbled to-and-fro, then fell to the ground on his face. It hurt, and Cevil was already impatient. He watched Fate playing the hoverboard, moving easily and freely, as if it didn't need any controlling. This time, Cevil rested one of his hands on the rock, then he stepped onto it with his right foot. The hoverboard made a beeping sound, the lights of it flickered on, then it moved forwards slightly little. Slowly, Cevil lifted his left leg, but immediately, before he got his foot onto the hoverboard, it spun round in circles, spinning to the right. Cevil lost his balance, and was sent to the ground once again, bruising his palms this time. He groaned, he turned around, realizing that KJ had learnt how to use it. KJ was moving forwards slowly, delighted that he was able to learn so quickly. It didn't last long though, KJ lost control and went forward too much, hurled to the ground at the same time. Cevil sighed, and he decided to get back to his work. It had been ten minutes of practicing, but Cevil failed. Desperately, he kicked the hoverboard aside, then sat down, leaning against the wall. It was when Fate came when he got some hope. Fate offered help, to guide Cevil and help Cevil. Cevil pressed one of his hands against the wall, the other hand gripping hold of Fate's hand, then slowly, he placed his right foot onto the pressure pad.

"Great, now, you get your left one on it. But remember, balance, stable, don't panic, and don't focus all your strength on one side of your foot, or one part of your foot. Don't move when you get onto it, don't hurry. Firstly, you must learn to balance," Fate advised. Cevil got his second foot onto the pressure pad successfully and that was already enough to make Cevil glad. Cevil obeyed, and stood on the hoverboard, trying to balance, while Fate caught hold of another hand of Cevil's. Even though Cevil was controlling hard to balance, the hoverboard would move automatically sometimes. Fortunately, Cevil was able to stop it before it went too fast and Cevil would fall once again. "Now, we go forward," saying this, Fate pulled both Cevil hands forward, very slowly, that it felt like he wasn't moving at all. It worked, Cevil found himself moving forward, faster as Fate pulled harder. He began to enjoy it.

"Stop," Fate said sternly, aware that Cevil began to relax and was half-relying on Fate to balance. Cevil immediately stopped pressing forward, then focused his strength onto the middle of his soles. The hoverboard stopped immediately, obeying Cevil. Cevil was pleased with himself and noticed that Fate had somehow smiled a little.

 "Now, go forward."

Cevil moved forward, then after a while, suddenly realized that Fate was gone. He lost balance and fell off immediately, crashing himself into one of the men. A voice scowled from behind. Fate. Nevertheless, Fate let out a hand and helped Cevil to his feet. "Why did you fall?" he groaned. "Then why did you let go? You made me panicked!" Cevil blamed. He folded his arms and glared at Fate.

"I've learnt it! Cevil! Have you?" KJ exclaimed, interrupting their conversation.

 "Yes, I've learnt too."

 "Can you show?"

 "As easy as one-two-three."

Cevil gulped, he had lied, very automatically, without hesitating. Now, he had to perform it in front of KJ when he hadn't learnt how to use it yet. Fate watched, and Cevil could see him trying to hold back a smile. Nervously, Cevil stepped onto the hoverboard with his eyes closed, helping himself with the wall. To his surprise, he balanced perfectly well. He didn't even wobble. Steadily, he let go of the wall and rode forward. He was steady and stable; he wasn't trembling or wobbling. The hoverboard was completely under his control. Then, he started to change directions, going backwards, turning left and right. Everything happened as he wanted. Lastly, he leaned slightly right, and spun like crazy. It was fun for him, and he jumped off the hoverboard. "It's so easy! I didn't really need to control it! It felt like," He swirled around, "It was as if it could read my mind!"
