Chapter 24 - knowing the truth

Belinda brought Kellan to the gravestone of Lydia's parents.

"These are Lydia's parents. Look at their death dates, and you'll know if Lydia lied to you."

Kellan started to panic, realizing he had made a grave mistake. He crouched down to look at the dates on the gravestone, and suddenly his mind went blank. He tugged at his hair in frustration.

"I wronged Lydia. It's my fault, all my fault."

Kellan blamed himself, filled with regret. His momentary lapse in judgment had cost him the woman he loved the most.

Lydia's father had passed away on the day she suddenly returned to the country. Her mother had died after they had already broken up. When Lydia called him, it was during her mother's critical illness.

Damn Desiree. She knew everything about Lydia and used that knowledge to set up a trap. But the most intolerable part was that he had believed it, without a doubt.

The two of them walked out of the cemetery and headed to the car.
