Lydia was certain that they had never crossed paths before. It must have been a debt from a past life that he had come to collect in this one.
"Let go of me and go back to your wife," Lydia demanded, pushing him away forcefully.
"I don't have a wife," Merrick stated firmly.
"You're lying! You're lying again. Desiree is your wife, and you dare to say you don't have one. Merrick, let me tell you, whether you have a wife or not has nothing to do with me. Even if you were the most eligible bachelor, I wouldn't care."
Merrick's words made Lydia laugh. If he was going to lie, he should at least make it believable. The whole world knew he had a wife and a kid, yet he stood there, lying through his teeth.
"Lydia…" Merrick's voice was tinged with anger as he finally lost his patience. He pushed Lydia away, but seeing her nearly fall, he held back the rest of his words.
