Chapter 50 - 47: Study Dates & Stolen Moments

Chapter 47: Study Dates & Stolen Moments 🌙

The library was quiet — too quiet for Section E. Every page flip echoed like thunder.

Jay sat cross-legged on the floor beside the window, her notes spread around her like a paper galaxy. Outside, the sunset poured honey-gold light over everything.

Across from her, Keifer was supposed to be studying.

Instead, he was watching her. Again.

"You're staring," she said without looking up.

"I'm studying," he said smoothly. "Just… my favorite subject."

Jay looked up, narrowing her eyes. "You think you're charming, huh?"

He grinned. "You smiled, didn't you?"

She tried to hide the small curl of her lips. "Focus, Watson."

Keifer leaned closer. "I am focused. On you."

Jay sighed, pretending to be annoyed, though her heartbeat betrayed her.

"Keifer, we have finals tomorrow."

"I already memorized everything," he said, tapping his temple.

"Math, physics… and the exact number of freckles you have."

Jay's pen froze mid-air. "You're unbelievable."

"Unbelievably in love?" he teased.

She threw her pen at him. He caught it effortlessly, laughing quietly so the librarian wouldn't notice.

Minutes passed, pages turned. But every so often, Keifer would nudge her foot with his, or whisper random questions just to make her look up.

When she finally did, their faces were too close. The sunlight had faded, replaced by the soft silver of the moon through the window.

Keifer's smile softened. "You know, I used to think I needed to top every exam to feel proud," he said quietly. "But lately… being next to you feels like enough."

Jay blinked, caught off guard. "Keifer…"

He leaned forward a little, voice low. "You always make me want to be better. For you."

The air grew still, heavy with things unsaid. Jay's eyes flickered between his and the curve of his smile. Her breath hitched when he brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, fingers lingering just long enough to make her heart skip.

"Keifer…" she whispered again, softer this time.

"Yeah?"

"Stop looking at me like that."

"Like what?"

"Like you're about to—"

Before she could finish, footsteps echoed down the hall. Both of them jumped back, hearts racing.

Eren's voice rang from the doorway, "Yo! Study session's over, lovebirds!"

Jay groaned. "Perfect timing."

Keifer chuckled, picking up her scattered notes. "Guess the universe wants a to be continued, Mrs. Watson."

Jay blushed instantly. "You did not just—"

"I did," he said proudly, grin smug. "You'll get used to it, love."

Jay shook her head, but she couldn't stop smiling as he handed her pen back.

And as they left the library, their shoulders brushed—

and even without a kiss, it felt like one. 🌙💞
