Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 Taming

He was a middle-aged man with a tall and steady figure. His face was full of strong features, with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes. Although he had a stubble on his face, it added to his masculine charm. He clapped his hands with a friendly smile and said, "Oh my, it's an honor to have so many visitors to our cemetery town today."

The players immediately became wary of this strange man.

"Don't be nervous, everyone. I'm the mayor of this town, and I'm here to welcome you all on behalf of the town," the mayor quickly explained, calming the tense atmosphere among the crowd.

"This is my house, and I usually use it to entertain guests. Since everyone's already here, why don't you just stay here?" the mayor kindly suggested. "I imagine some of you aren't really keen on leaving right now..."

Upon hearing that they could stay here, the players, who no longer wanted to go out and go back, instantly lit up.

"Is it really okay?" Zhang Si asked immediately, as he didn't really want to go out anymore.

"Of course, guests are guests, and I'll have someone arrange rooms for everyone in a bit. As long as everyone follows the rules of this house, it's perfectly safe here." The mayor's mention of the rules meant that this was one of the places players had to be involved in, and being able to stay here now was somewhat of a lucky accident.

"Okay, okay, it's good that we can stay here." Wang Guang nodded happily. He didn't want to go back and forth between the little girl's house and the town every day. There were too many players and too many uncontrollable factors. Being able to find a safe place in the town meant that if the same situation happened again, they could just run here directly.

"Now that everyone is settled in, I'll get back to work. The rules for the house are posted on the pillars in the lobby, so please be sure to take a look." The mayor turned around with a smile, preparing to go upstairs again to leave.

In the instant he turned around, he suddenly caught sight of Yin Xiu in the corner.

Unlike the other wary players, that person completely ignored his own presence and stood motionless in the corner, staring at the painting on the wall, like a cold and beautiful sculpture.

His pale face was outlined by the hazy light streaming through the window, his entire being enveloped in a halo of light, serene and beautiful, yet lifeless. He himself stood there like a painting, gloomy and dangerous, utterly captivating.

A flicker of agitation crossed the mayor's eyes for a moment, then he saw Yin Xiu turn his head and meet his gaze. Although Yin Xiu's eyes remained calm and expressionless, he did react defensively to the mayor's gaze.

The mayor quickly smiled apologetically, turned around and hurried upstairs, muttering, "So it was alive."

Yin Xiu stared at the man's departing figure, his gaze thoughtful.

"Hey boss, my name is Zhong Mu, what's your name?" After settling down, the newcomer quickly struck up a conversation with Yin Xiu.

Yin Xiu responded calmly, "Yin Xiu."

"Oh, you seem to be all alone." Zhong Mu rubbed his hands meaningfully. "Where's your roommate? Is he dead?"

"No," Yin Xiu replied lazily, "I left him with the little girl."

Zhong Mu was taken aback. "You left him and that little girl alone in the room?"

"Um."

Zhong Mu felt a chill run down his spine. "Your roommate must have been terrified. That's terrible."

Yin Xiu: ?

Reminded by this, Yin Xiu suddenly remembered the real purpose of today, and turned to look at Wang Guang who was holding his mother's package, "I have to go back and give the package to the little girl, and see what the next step is."

It was only later that everyone realized they still needed to go back to see the little girl.

"Um…we really do have to go back…" Zhang Si looked at the others with a conflicted expression. Now, almost no player wanted to leave this safe zone, and no one was willing to go back.

Seeing that everyone was reluctant, Wang Guang realized it was time to demonstrate his leadership and immediately stepped forward.

"I don't think everyone needs to go back. Let's send the packages back first to see what we need to do next, and then have someone come back to inform the others. Otherwise, it's dangerous to go back in such a large group." Wang Guang didn't want to take these people who were holding him back any longer, so he quickly suggested.

Most of the newcomers no longer wanted to go out, so they all gave up the option of returning.

Wang Guang, carrying the package, was definitely going back. Zhang Si, as one of the leaders, had to stay and take care of the new players; otherwise, they would feel uneasy without any veteran players around.

When Yin Xiu wanted to go back, Zhong Mu followed him, and no one else had any intention of going back.

In the end, Wang Guang, Yin Xiu, and Zhong Mu went back together.

"What, you two are the ones who aren't afraid of death?" Wang Guang didn't like these two people and didn't want to go back with them, but going back alone was indeed a bit dangerous. If things got really bad, he could always sell them out to save himself.

Zhong Mu snorted, showing no liking for Wang Guang. Yin Xiu, as always, didn't want to get involved in the conflict and ignored Wang Guang's words. This indifference seemed arrogant to Wang Guang, which also annoyed him.

The three of them opened the door and left the mayor's house. As soon as they were outside, they immediately closed the door, fearing that something might go wrong.

The fog had dissipated, and the woman was nowhere to be seen.

The town square was silent, devoid of blood, corpses, or any other traces. A dim, yellow light enveloped the entire town, creating a harmonious and tranquil atmosphere, as if the earlier commotion had never existed, or that the missing group of players had never even appeared in the instance in the first place.

"This is truly the underworld." Wang Guang stammered, feeling a chill run down his spine.

The three of them followed the same route back to the bungalow area where the little girl lived.

After the event triggers the receipt of the mother's package, all the little girls in the players' rooms are combined into one, and she is now in Yin Xiu's room.

Upon hearing footsteps in the distance, the little girl quickly lifted the curtains and pressed herself against the window, excitedly pointing and exclaiming, "He's back! It's my brother!"

When the little girl's bright and cheerful voice rang out in the room, Wang Guang almost didn't recognize her for a moment. This sweet and clear voice was so different from the extremely fierce little girl in his room.

Then Yin Xiu opened the door, revealing a sweet and lovely little girl inside. Wang Guang and Zhong Mu were stunned and quickly turned to look at the other rooms, afraid that they might have missed the real little girl.

The little girl happily jumped into Yin Xiu's arms and snuggled up to him, "Brother, you're finally back! I was so worried about you!"

"Yin Xiu...is this your roommate?" Zhong Mu didn't want to admit that this cute little sister was the same vicious little girl.

"No, my roommate is inside." Yin Xiu pointed indifferently into the room.

Zhong Mu immediately peeked into the house and saw the man in the black suit, who exuded an eerie aura, smiling as he turned to look at her. The abrupt turn of his head sent a chill down Zhong Mu's spine.

This one is more like a monster from a dungeon than a little girl!

"Brother, where's Mom's package?" The little girl nuzzled against Yin Xiu, reminding him.

Wang Guang, who had been standing there in a daze, quickly handed over the dirty bag he was holding, saying, "Here it is."

"Why is it so dirty!" The little girl saw the bag, froze, and her voice instantly became shrill, her pupils shrinking. "Did you get the package Mom gave me dirty?!"

"No, no, it's not!" Wang Guang shuddered in fright. That familiar, unpredictable feeling... it really was that little girl. She was always so capricious in his room; she was probably about to undergo another strange change.

"If you dare lie, I'll eat you!" the little girl shouted angrily, but before she could finish her rant, Yin Xiu patted her on the head.

"It was this dirty when we found it. Let's take a look inside first."

"Oh." The little girl immediately became obedient, opened the bag, and took out a piece of paper.

Before she could even see what was on the note, Yin Xiu snatched it away from her.

After a moment of stunned silence, Wang Guang suddenly realized that there was a note inside, probably the second note with the rules. If the little girl had seen it just now, she would have broken the rules. Luckily, he reacted quickly.

The girl reacted quickly enough, but...

"Brother, what are you doing? I haven't even looked at it yet." The little girl pouted, her lips trembling. She had finally gotten her hands on the thing her mother had left for her, but it was snatched away before she could even properly look at it.

You'd be angry no matter what, right?

Wang Guang's eyes turned gloating as he waited to see the little girl undergo a transformation.
