Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 The Townspeople's Enthusiasm

Li Mo took off his suit jacket and handed it to Yin Xiu.

Yin Xiu took the coat and covered the little girl with it.

In that instant, Zhong Mu clearly saw that the expressions of the little girl and Li Mo both became very subtle.

"I don't want to be covered by his clothes..." the little girl muttered, pulling off the coat covering her with obvious disgust.

"Don't take it off. Your mother told you not to let anyone in town see you. It's very dangerous on the way to your grandmother's house," Yin Xiu gently instructed, putting the coat back on.

"Do we really have to cover it?" the little girl asked reluctantly.

"must."

After Yin Xiu gave an affirmative answer, the little girl gave in.

Wang Guang's expression was complicated. This little girl was strangely obedient to Yin Xiu. If it were anyone else, they probably wouldn't have had such an easy time in this dungeon. It seemed Zhong Mu was right; Yin Xiu was indeed more suitable to be the leader. But if a newcomer were to be the leader while he lay around doing nothing, people would laugh at them when they returned to town. That wouldn't do.

"Let's go, it's time to go back to town before it gets dark." Yin Xiu took the little girl's hand, glanced at the sky, and knew they had to get back as soon as possible.

"I want my brother to hold me." The little girl tugged at the suit jacket covering her head, feeling extremely annoyed, and deliberately tugged at Yin Xiu's hand and shook it in a spoiled manner.

Li Mo's eyes darkened and he stared intently at the little girl, who pouted and pretended not to see him, looking into the distance.

"Okay." Without much thought, Yin Xiu reached out and picked up the little girl, completely ignoring the cold aura emanating from Li Mo behind him.

"Let's go, let's go." Zhong Mu was sweating profusely, afraid that his strange roommate would get angry, and hurriedly urged Yin Xiu to leave.

Yin Xiu carried the little girl wrapped in a black coat and walked in front, with Li Mo beside him and Zhong Mu behind him. Only Wang Guang walked at the very back with a complicated expression.

The group made it back to the entrance of the town without incident.

When I came before, there was only a line of sight on both sides and it was very quiet, but this time it was very different.

From the moment the little girl entered the town, the atmosphere suddenly turned gloomy, and even the afternoon sunlight dimmed instantly. The creaking of doors on both sides drew gazes and figures out from within.

"What... what's going on?" Zhong Mu looked around in a panic, staring warily at the residents of the small town on both sides, a chill creeping into his heart for no reason.

Many townspeople who were previously reluctant to open their doors now opened them with great enthusiasm. They smiled and waved to Yin Xiu and the others, while a series of sinister voices rang out one after another.

"Young man, it's dangerous outside during the day. Come and sit in my house."

"Are you tired? Walking around outside must be tiring. Come and rest in my room."

"We haven't had any visitors in town for a long time. Would you like to come to my room for a seat? I've prepared some delicious food for you. Come on in."

They all stood at the doorway, waving to them with enthusiastic smiles. The parts of their faces, hidden in the shadows, resembled normal human faces, smiling gently. However, when a small part of some of their faces was exposed to the sunlight, it was obvious that they were not human.

Their skin was covered in dense black fur, and their pupils had become incredibly sharp, making them look as terrifying as wild beasts. Even so, they seemed oblivious to this, still smiling and waving at them, "Come to my house, come on in."

The calls echoed through the town's streets like a tide rolling in from both sides. People's gazes, as if cold and clinging to them, kept waving and slowly approaching.

When someone waves to you, it might be a friendly gesture, but when there are rows of houses on both sides and countless people trying to beckon you into their rooms, the scene becomes exceptionally eerie, especially since some of those people aren't even human.

Zhong Mu shuddered, too frightened by the bizarre scene to move any further. She immediately squeezed next to Yin Xiu, trembling, and said, "Are the townspeople in this town not human?!"

"Hmm." Yin Xiu responded, ignoring the people, and continued walking forward.

After all, the background information at the beginning of the dungeon mentioned that the little girl and her mother moved to the monster town where her grandmother lived. Even if everyone there suddenly turned into monsters, he wouldn't find it strange.

"Come on, come to my room! Why aren't you coming?"

"Come here, come here quickly!"

"I will give you good food and drinks, and I will never do anything dangerous to you."

"Yes, I'll treat you well, come on over."

"Hahaha... If you guys hadn't come, I would have gone over there..."

As they marched forward indifferently, the voices on both sides grew increasingly frenzied. As if unable to contain themselves, the people took two steps forward from the doorway, their entire bodies instantly exposed to the sunlight. Their appearances changed beyond recognition; they transformed into monsters covered in black fur, extending sharp claws and waving them at them, luring them away.

The scene shifted from the eerie townspeople greeting them to monsters beckoning them. A dense mass of heads and the constant calls to them slowly overlapped and moved forward, gradually creeping from the front of the houses onto the road, blocking their path.

In the black-clad crowd, faces were crowded together, and voices echoed.

"Come...come with me."

"Go to my house, go to my house."

"Give her to me, give her to me, give her to me..."

The dense, muttered murmurs drifted along the quiet road, the overlapping sounds even slightly disturbing, causing a moment of disorientation.

Yin Xiu stopped, protecting the little girl and not going any further. His gaze turned cold as he stared thoughtfully at the monsters and townspeople blocking their path.

With so many residents in the town, killing one or two shouldn't affect the rules, right?

He switched the little girl to his left arm and silently placed his right hand over the hilt of the knife.

"Brother...I'm scared..." the little girl in his arms said tremblingly, her trembling voice making Yin Xiu's grip on the knife hilt even firmer.

"Don't be afraid, your brother will protect you."

"Give her to me...give her to me..."

"Come to my house...come to die in my house..."

"How pitiful, you are about to die."

"Hahaha... outsiders, outsiders who break the rules, you'll all die sooner or later..."

The voices were a mix of sobbing and occasional madness, and the faces gradually became twisted and insane. Dense black hands slowly approached them, the encirclement growing smaller and smaller, leaving them with absolutely no way to escape.

"What do we do? We're blocked!" Zhong Mu trembled as she clung to Yin Xiu's back, somewhat terrified. After all, the rules stated that they should not go to any monster's house along the way, but now that they were blocked, they couldn't leave even if they didn't go.

"Fight our way out?" Wang Guang's voice trembled, filled with panic, as he didn't believe he could actually break through.

If all else fails, he can just snatch the little girl and run away at the last minute... He's cleared two dungeons before, so he has some self-defense items. It doesn't matter if these troublesome guys die here, as long as the little girl is there, it won't affect the dungeon progress. He can just take the little girl and run away in a bit!

With that thought in mind, he immediately fixed his gaze on Yin Xiu.

"Who's going to kill them? You go ahead and kill them, it's so easy for you to say." Zhong Mu rolled her eyes at him. Even if someone could kill the monsters, they couldn't handle so many of them. These were the entire town's residents.

The players on screen were terrified, but the players in the town outside the screen were rubbing their hands together excitedly, full of anticipation.

"Is it finally time for Yin Xiu to make his move? I've been waiting for this for so long!"

"I can't wait! I've only seen him fight a monster once before, and he looked so cool, guys!"

"Now that you say that, I'm really looking forward to it too. In this situation, anyone else would have been wiped out, but with Yin Xiu around, I feel very safe!"

"I feel very at ease with Yin Xiu, but I'm not so comfortable with the guy next to him named Wang Guang."

"You saw it too, he seemed to be rummaging through his pocket for something just now."

"Hopefully, this wise guy will behave himself and not hold Yin Xiu back!"

The monsters continued to advance, howling incessantly, their dense black figures surging like a tide, approaching them from all directions.

"Brother..." The little girl in his arms hurriedly hugged Yin Xiu's neck, somewhat frightened.

Before he could even feel scared for a few seconds, Li Mo silently pressed his head down and pushed him off.

"Don't be afraid." Yin Xiu didn't notice Li Mo's little movements and gently comforted him, while watching the approaching monster horde and gripping the hilt of his knife tightly.

Amidst the overwhelming roars of the monsters, as they drew ever closer, their hearts pounded. Wang Guang trembled, glancing out of the corner of his eye at the little girl in Yin Xiu's arms. Should they just snatch the little girl and run? After all, they were going to die in the monster horde anyway.

The situation is urgent, and tensions are about to escalate.

The moment the monsters at the very front of the pack surged forward, Yin Xiu, who had been standing still, took a half-step back, his gaze darkening slightly, and in an instant, he drew the sword from his waist.
