Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Triggering Rules

The man's attention was entirely focused on the strange woman in front of him, and he didn't notice the wailing in the comments section.

His new companion behind him trembled and shrank behind the sofa, too terrified to utter a sound. He was completely stunned by what he was witnessing.

As the man expected, after opening the window, the woman slowly poked her head in and looked around the living room. After scanning the room for a moment, she slowly withdrew her head, her face bearing an unchanging smile. "Indeed, it's not here."

"I told you it wasn't in my house." He breathed a slight sigh of relief when he saw the woman pull her head back out of the window. He quickly took two steps forward to close the window, still speaking arrogantly, "Now that you've seen the living room, you should apologize to me, you ugly woman."

The woman chuckled, and just as the man approached the window, she suddenly reached out and grabbed his collar.

The man shuddered in fright. He was already somewhat wary, but he reacted extremely quickly by pulling out a knife from his pocket and slashing open the collar of his shirt that was being grabbed. He stumbled backward in a panic and fell to the ground, his face deathly pale.

"Hehehe... What a pity." The woman squinted, pinched the slashed collar in her hand, and grinned, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth. "I almost managed to bite your head off."

The man's face turned pale and then red; he was terrified. If he hadn't cleared a few dungeons before and was somewhat prepared, and hadn't reacted quickly enough, he might have already been devoured.

He gasped for breath, gradually calming down. The thought of how he'd just been terrified and scrambled to his feet in front of the entire town's players filled him with rage again. Taking advantage of the fact that the woman could no longer grab him, he cursed on the ground, "You damn woman! Come on in and bite me if you dare! You'd better see if your neck is long enough to bite my head!"

"I've cleared countless dungeons, what kind of monsters haven't I seen! Do you think I'm afraid of an ugly woman like you who looks like she's been dead for four or five days?!"

Amidst the shouts and curses, the woman's face twisted in a grimace. Her sharp nails scratched at the windowsill, and her smile widened, her eyes blazing with barely concealed rage. "Fine," she said.

She was already quite angry after being humiliated by Yin Xiu, and now someone dared to provoke her to her face. This time, the player wasn't as cautious as before.

As the woman's increasingly frenzied laughter grew, her head slowly emerged through the window, the bones cracking and splintering at the joint of her neck. Her neck visibly lengthened and extended, her head drawing ever closer to the man on the ground.

When the man sensed something was wrong, he turned around in a panic and tried to run away.

Just as he got up from the ground, a huge mouth suddenly bit down from behind, and blood splattered everywhere, scattering on the living room floor.

A headless body, still in a fleeing posture, slowly collapsed to the ground.

"Aaaaaah!!" The newcomer inside was so frightened that he broke down in tears and scrambled into the room where the little girl was locked, locking the door tightly behind him.

The woman's head retracted from the window and landed safely on her shoulder. She twisted her neck, and the bones cracked, but apart from the blood on her face, her body was unchanged from before.

"It tastes awful." The woman swallowed, her bloodshot eyes filled with disgust. She ignored the other player who had already retreated into the room and slowly walked away.

Players in towns across all dimensions were stunned by what they had just witnessed.

The first player to get into trouble did so because he opened the curtains after hearing a knock on the window, failed to realize the rules in time, and was seen by the woman playing with her little girl in the living room.

Her head broke through the window and killed the little girl. The player was so frightened that he broke down and ran out the door. The little girl's death caused him to break the rules and die as well.

The woman then ran into a wall with Yin Xiu and left dejectedly.

Following Yin Xiu's lead was the right thing to do, but this man clearly didn't take this beginner dungeon seriously. He was too arrogant and deliberately provoked the enemy even though he had avoided the danger, which led to his own death.

His death prompted players in various towns watching the live stream to quickly send messages to the surviving players in their own towns, instructing them on the correct actions.

The chat messages are visible to players currently in a dungeon, so having them enabled can occasionally lead to strategy guides and assistance, which is advantageous for them. However, players can only see chat messages from their own town, not from other towns, while players in other towns can see the screen of everyone currently in the dungeon.

This means that players in other towns can observe other people's gameplay to develop strategies, and then tell the players in their own towns. This kind of real-time strategy requires a pro player in the same dungeon, and that pro player encountered problems before them and was able to operate.

Clearly, Yin Xiu is that big shot.

The chat messages can be freely muted. Occasionally, some unreliable comments may appear, which can affect the mentality of players who are currently in a dungeon. Therefore, players can choose whether to turn them off and not view any chat messages.

This is a choice that very few players would make, since the benefits of receiving off-field assistance outweigh the drawbacks.

Yin Xiu was one of the very few.

"That player died a really horrible death."

"He deserved it. He copied homework from Yin Xiu, how dare he still act recklessly?"

"However, his death saved the others. Now everyone is cleaning the house and hiding the little girl and her things so that the woman won't see them and won't suspect anything."

"Although Yin Xiu was caught off guard when he took the lead, he was still quite steady."

"The main reason is that they're not afraid and have a clear mind. How come when I was clearing dungeons, there wasn't a single expert like Yin Xiu among my peers?"

"Yeah... I kind of want to be Yin Xiu's roommate, so he can carry me to new heights."

"You better watch your step. Don't forget who set the rules for the whole town. If that person says you can't be Yin Xiu's roommate, then you definitely can't. Don't be a jerk."

"But he didn't say why he couldn't! He just told everyone in town to avoid Yin Xiu. If I had known Yin Xiu was a big shot, I would have definitely tried to build a good relationship with him. Look how useless his roommate is now, all he does is sit in the corner."

"Hehe, brother, take my advice. Our town is united, and very few players die because of his rules. He said he can't be Yin Xiu's roommate, so he definitely can't. Don't question it."

"So tell me why you can't! Are you taking advantage of the fact that newcomers don't know the answer and trying to give me a cryptic answer?!"

The comments section erupted into arguments.

After learning about Yin Xiu's identity and witnessing his dungeon runs, the townspeople began to divide. Some who had previously kept their distance from Yin Xiu tried to befriend this unassuming, retired tycoon, while others followed the town's rules and kept their distance from him.

The two sides began to argue and argue, and for a while, they couldn't figure it out.

Then a comment drifted by: "Everyone, I'm a newbie... I'd like to ask, who exactly is this 'him' you're talking about?"

Have you seen the rule sheet that was distributed in town?

"I've seen it, and I know it by heart."

"The notes on the back of the rules sheet were written by him. He is the manager of our town and also a player, but he spends most of his time in and out of dungeons doing strategy guides and rarely stays in town."

"The rule that everyone should avoid Yin Xiu was established by him a long time ago."

"Do you know why Yin Xiu still lives alone?"

"That's because everyone who broke the rule died."
