Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Following

Realizing that something strange had infiltrated the chat, the number of people speaking instantly decreased by more than half.

Yin Xiu silently tucked the little girl's blanket in. "She's still alive, she must still be alive, so I'm still looking."

"Once I find it, I'll bring it to you so you can meet me. Now you should go to sleep early."

"Hmm..." The little girl nodded hesitantly and obediently closed her eyes. "Goodnight, brother."

Yin Xiu nodded casually, got up and left the room.

The comments section immediately became lively again.

"Alright, now I know why Yin Xiu was so nice to this little girl, wiping her face and hands and taking her to bathe. He must treat her like his little sister."

"Trying to treat the dungeon monsters like younger sisters, Yin Xiu must have been staying in the small town for too long and his mind is a bit off."

"Yeah... that little girl isn't his sister, why is he so nice to her? He's usually so mean to us."

"Next time, if I dress up as a little girl and go to see him, will I be able to lure him out of the house?"

"Big Smart, you probably don't even know how you got cut in two, you're just being a nuisance."

"that is."

Yin Xiu opened the little girl's door. Before he knew it, it had gotten dark. The living room was almost completely dark, with only a faint glimmer of light coming in from the window allowing Yin Xiu to see the outline of the living room.

He closed the little girl's door and turned to walk towards his own room.

Just as he reached the center of the living room, a gust of cold wind swept in from outside the window, rattling the glass. The chill instantly enveloped the entire living room, plunging Yin Xiu into darkness.

Sensing that something seemed to have happened in the living room, Yin Xiu stood still, gripping the hilt of his knife with one hand, slowly adjusting his eyes to the darkness as he observed the living room.

The pale white walls were most striking at night, and the outlines of some furniture were submerged in darkness, outlining a structure no different from that during the day. But Yin Xiu saw nothing unusual, only a strange chill permeating the entire living room. With each breath, this coldness felt like needles piercing his lungs, yet he couldn't see it anywhere.

Rule Six: Stay in your room at night and don't go to the living room, or it will find you.

At this moment, it was clear that it had already appeared in the living room, but instead of attacking Yin Xiu directly, it was circling around him.

Is it because it hasn't found me yet?

Yin Xiu pondered, trying to figure out what unconscious action he might have taken that would have kept the other person from noticing him? Was it that he didn't make a sound? Or that he didn't move?

Just as I was pondering this, a heart-wrenching scream echoed throughout the night from outside, and players in other rooms were in trouble.

At this moment, the players watching the live stream could clearly see that, while the other player in the living room had not returned to his room in time, he was instantly swallowed up by something in the darkness. His body was torn to pieces and disappeared into the dark living room in the blink of an eye, leaving only the sound of swallowing and tearing.

They couldn't even see what it was; it was something almost completely invisible that killed the player in an instant.

This overwhelming killing power sent chills down the players' spines, and their gazes involuntarily shifted to Yin Xiu, who was in the living room. It was all over; even Yin Xiu was doomed now. No matter how good his reflexes were, it was an instant kill, and Yin Xiu wouldn't survive.

Yin Xiu stood quietly in the darkness, sensing everything around him. He couldn't see any figures, but he could feel something moving around him, and even a sticky sensation brushing against his skin.

This invisible sense of oppression made Yin Xiu subconsciously freeze for almost a minute, standing in the darkness, almost blending into the furniture of the living room.

"What's going on? All the players still in the living room are completely still? And none of them have been killed?"

Players outside the screen cannot feel the oppressive atmosphere; they are simply stunned to see that all the scenes in the living room are frozen, with no one taking any action.

"You look like a newbie, don't you? Since the rules say not to be found, you obviously have a way to hide yourself."

"This rule is quite user-friendly. It specifies the time, location, and how to avoid the danger. It's the easiest danger to avoid, otherwise the little girl wouldn't have been able to hold back the player."

"Yeah, I've noticed that the rules for this instance really like to create contradictions. On one hand, it doesn't allow players to refuse the little girl, but on the other hand, it makes the little girl ask players to do things that violate the rules. That's awful."

"Moreover, if a player encounters it in the living room, their first reaction is likely to rush back to their room, but as soon as they move, it will detect them."

"I've written it down. Another guide, but this is a beginner dungeon. I've already cleared it, so I don't know if I'll need it."

"It's always good to write it down."

The audience consisted mainly of players who wanted to clear the dungeon. As they watched, they naturally began to study the dungeon. Even though it was late at night, many people were still enjoying watching the live stream.

Inside the instance, after failing to detect anything, the chill slowly receded from the living room until it completely disappeared.

Yin Xiu glanced around the living room, and only after confirming that there was nothing there did he slowly relax and tentatively take a step forward.

Nothing in the living room attacked him; only silence responded to him.

He continued walking towards his room, completely unaware that with each step he took, a shadow followed him as he slowly entered the room.

"Everyone who was still in the living room and had already avoided danger has gradually returned to their rooms. There shouldn't be anything to do tonight, right?"

"They've rested, so I should go rest too. Getting up in the middle of the night to read Yin Xiu's dungeon is exhausting."

"I'm going to sleep too. Watching them sleep is not as good as sleeping by myself. I guess tonight will just pass by like this."

"According to the rules of this instance, tonight might not just end like this, you know? Don't forget there's another rule about the night."

"Ah... the last rule, number seven, right? But the triggering conditions are so vague, I have no idea why it's triggered."

"Based on my experience, such a non-specific rule must be triggered by conditions that are connected to other rules."

"So, if you put it that way, the two rules for the night can actually be linked?"

"Very likely."

"It's all thanks to you big shots who have thoroughly studied the rules; I, a newbie, can only watch."

"You'll study the rules once you can complete the game independently... Let's live for a year first."

The comments section quieted down, and Yin Xiu's room also fell silent.

After returning to his room, he tidied himself up and then went to bed in the dark.

In this instance, there were no lights inside at night, making it inconvenient to do anything. However, he could see lights outside the window, and in the distance, there was a large patch of light and shadow, as if there was another densely populated area elsewhere.

Yin Xiu touched the knife hanging at his waist and decided to rest for a while before climbing out the window to check; he was really tired.

After a drowsy feeling settled in, Yin Xiu slept soundly in bed. The room was too dark, and when he returned to his room, he didn't even see a pair of black footprints beside his bed.
