The Untainted
Chapter 8
Sitting on my bed in the hostel, my same roommate which i avoided before by renting apartment outside the school was buzzing around me. Not allowing me to focus on my note. I thank Allah the third one was replaced but her replacement was not better, she is also a club girl, short dresses, drinks and smoke, late night outings and all. The only difference is she's not drinking and smoking in the room.
I regret coming back to the hostel but do i have a choice? when i don't even have the capability to continue paying the house bills and buying textbooks with other school necessities, i had to move back to the hostel. And I don't want to disturb my parents, I know they manage with their pensions and even the money is not paid to them regularly.
And out of these pension money is what they send to me, the last one they sent wasn't enough but i had to lie that it was because I don't want them pressing me for marriage again. Telling about someone who can take very good care of me and all.
I know they want the best for me. They are already trying and its enough, i will do the rest, they are too old for all these troubles. They should be enjoying the fruits of their labour now if not that they had a child late.
And now folakemi won't let me breath with her tantrums and complaints.
Babe won't you answer me? You won't talk abi ? She said
And suddenly the book was snatched away.
Why do you take my book? Fola I'm not going to your party o. please I need to study...no party.
Which study again, come on you are already topping the class, this one won't drop your score.
And also I showed your last drawing to my family and they requested that I bring you along, I believe you will get some work offer at even a higher price, what do you think. They really appreciate your work and they told me to bring the genius who doesn't study art but she's a freak in real life drawing and calligraphy.
Rihannat was about to lash out but stopped abruptly when she had her roommate or can she call her friend..... fola was one of those who patronize her the most for painting and calligraphy. She pays her well and bring her more customers. She is really one of those who help her make money in the school. She's one of the best customers she has. Even though she's a club fanatics, she loves art.
And mentioning her family sending her an invitation is like an olive branch, what if her parents loves her art too. What if they love the drawings and sketches she will take along tomorrow. Its tempting. She might make some money that she needs tomorrow.
And folakemi is not helping her turmoil mind at all by throwing all the enticing candy that she really needs.trying all her possible best to make sure she comes to her brother's welcoming party because she knows even if she gives her the invitation she might not show up. So she trying to take Rihannat with her to their house tomorrow. To meet her parents
And also for another reason only known to folakemi
But Rihannat is unaware that folakemi has another reason for inviting her. She wants to show off to her parents and brothers that she also has a decent friend too, its not all of them that dress scantily and since they didn't believe her she will take her home for them to see she wasn't lying.
So, she must take Rihannat home tomorrow.
Especially her senior brother Olalekan that just came back from Europe who has become a well know surgeon abroad and her second brother who won't stop criticizing her everyday. Oladeji won"t stop rebuking her at any chances given. Because of her choice of friends and dressing. Though their family is not a deep practicing muslims but her two brothers always prefer decent dressing ladies as her friends. Oladeji is the one heading their father's companies.He manages all the companies since Olalekan shows more interest in medicine while he chooses business. He's waiting for folakemi to join him soon after graduation but he's always afraid of rejections from the board members because of the group of friends she hang out with. While he's always scolding her to grow up as he doesn't want the board of directors to reject her when its time to join him in office but the girl just don't understand and wont listen. He knows her performance in school is good despite her lifestyle but her reputation matters too. But folakemi is having none of it, she wants to enjoy her life to the fullest before graduating .
Though the offer is tempting but Rihannat is thinking about the people who will be at the party tomorrow. She's not in their cancurs. Not in their league. Not in their radar. They are from different world and different lifestyles.
But she needs money. Maybe she can go since its her parents that invited her, it should be safe right? She thought
Fine... I will follow you but i won't stay too long and i won't be staying where you are drinking and dancing. After meeting with your parents and those who have interest in my painting I will take my leave.
Ok...k mi lady folakemi answered happily with a dramatic expression
And also we will be coming back that same tomorrow or I will be leaving alone
You know I should have left yesterday but because of you i stayed back, can't you stay till the next day at least for my sake" fola said with a cute and puppy doe eyes making Rihannat sighed . "Capital NO babe" Rihannat said and take back her book
Okay madam as you wish your royal majesty. This one you even agree to follow me self na by grace. Folakemi sagged her shoulder and walkout while still acting all cute making Rihannat laugh.
After folakemi left rihannat arrange her things in the room since they will be leaving very early the next day and pack some things she will need in her hand bag.
She left the room afterwards since she needs to inform her friends who have also moved back to the hostel since they all agreed to live in the campus together now.
Rihannat called the two friends out on phone to meet her in the school cafeteria.
