Chapter 20 - Chapter 18.1— Citywide Search for Ren

The moment Jun's call ended, Harit slammed his phone onto the table. Rage burned in his chest, but it was tempered by cold, precise focus.

"Gather everyone," he ordered, voice sharp. "Every contact, every team, every resource we have—we're not leaving a single street unchecked."

Runa and the family staff moved instantly, contacting private security, investigators, and law enforcement. Messages were sent to every part of the city: CCTV footage requests, traffic camera sweeps, and drone patrols.

"Father, mother, we need a citywide alert," Harit said, pacing, each step punctuated with tension. "Anyone who sees anything unusual—vehicles, strangers, anything—they contact us immediately."

Ren's father's voice was low and steady, but firm: "This is no longer a personal matter. Jun crossed a line. We will charge him, involve every authority we can. He will pay."

"Yes," Harit said, clenched fists at his sides. "We'll make sure he can't hide anywhere."

---

Coordinating the Search

Teams of private investigators fanned out across the city. CCTV footage was scoured frame by frame, looking for any van or suspicious car matching Jun's vehicle. Harit's trusted security operatives coordinated with local police precincts, sharing descriptions and possible escape routes.

"Check every alley, every street, every parking lot," Harit ordered. "He can't leave the city without someone seeing him. We'll sweep it block by block."

"Understood, sir," replied a senior investigator. "We'll bring him back."

Harit's mind raced. He imagined Ren slumped, weak, and bleeding, powerless to protect himself. His heart clenched, his jaw set.

*I won't let him hurt you, Ren. I will find you no matter what.*

---

Family Involvement

Ren's family was equally determined. Runa coordinated with the city's top contacts, ensuring that no hotel, bar, or street corner was unchecked. Noah contacted anyone he knew who might have seen the van. Ren's mother refused to leave, monitoring the feeds herself.

"This is beyond dangerous," she said quietly, but her eyes burned with determination. "We can't let Jun get away with this."

Ren's father nodded. "Every resource. Every contact. He won't escape. Harit… you lead the operation."

Harit's eyes flashed with steely determination. "I will. I swear, I'll get Ren back."

The City on High Alert

From downtown to the outskirts, the city seemed alive with the search. Traffic cameras scanned continuously, private drones hovered above key routes, and police checkpoints were set at every exit. News alerts were quietly disseminated to trusted channels to widen the search perimeter without causing panic among civilians.

Harit's team had detailed every potential hideout, mapped every road, and even traced Jun's known associates. Every alley, every warehouse, every barista shop—searched and rechecked.

*Jun won't know what hit him.* Harit thought, fingers clenching into fists.

Location Tracked

Harit's car roared down the darkened streets of the city, tires skimming over wet asphalt. His knuckles were white on the steering wheel, rage burning hotter than the engine beneath him. Every second Ren remained in Jun's hands felt like a lifetime.

Beside him, Runa sat tense, eyes fixed on the GPS feed. "Harit… we're close. The coordinates match the CCTV trace. Jun can't have gone far."

"I know," Harit muttered, jaw tight. "And when I get there… Jun won't know what hit him."

---

Arriving at the Hideout

The location was an abandoned warehouse near the industrial docks. Rusted metal gates and flickering lights gave the place a foreboding air. A few shadowy figures lingered near the entrance—Jun's hired men.

Harit stepped out of the car, voice cold and deadly. "Move aside."

The rowdies laughed, stepping forward with smirks and clenched fists.

"You sure about this, pretty boy?" one of them taunted.

Harit's gaze sharpened, piercing like a blade. "I'm done asking nicely."

In one fluid motion, he leapt forward. Each strike was precise, a mixture of strength, speed, and controlled fury. Rowdy after rowdy fell back, groaning and clutching limbs, unable to withstand his relentless assault.

Runa stayed back, calling security and tracking police backup. "Harit, be careful!"

"I'll be fine. He won't get away with this," Harit replied, his voice low and deadly.

---

Confrontation with Jun

Inside the warehouse, the air was thick with tension. Ren lay slumped in a chair, weak, his face streaked with blood, his body trembling. Jun stood nearby, arms crossed, a cruel smirk playing on his lips.

"Ah, Harit," Jun said mockingly, tilting his head. "I was wondering when you'd show up. And look at this… you actually care."

Harit's eyes blazed. "Let him go, Jun. Now."

Jun's smile widened. "Or what? You think you can stop me?"

Harit didn't reply. Instead, he surged forward, landing a punch that sent Jun staggering into a crate. The fight erupted. Jun threw punches, but Harit's anger, speed, and precision overwhelmed him.

"You… you can't beat me!" Jun spat, trying to rally, but Harit's strikes were merciless. Every movement carried the weight of fury and love for Ren.

---

Ren's Rescue

Harit reached Ren, kneeling beside him. "Ren… can you hear me?"

Ren's eyes fluttered open slightly. "Harit… I… I tried…"

"Shh… don't talk. I've got you. You're safe now," Harit whispered, lifting him carefully.

Ren leaned against him, weak but relieved. "I knew… you'd come…"

Harit's voice was thick with emotion. "I told you… I'll never let anyone hurt you. Not Jun. Not anyone."

---

Jun's Last Attempt

Jun, furious and disoriented, tried to grab a nearby pipe to strike Harit. "You… this isn't over!" he shouted.

Harit didn't even look at him. "You should've thought of that before hurting him," he said coldly, pressing Ren close as they made their way to the exit.

The rowdies, seeing their leader overpowered, fled into the shadows.

---

Outside the Warehouse

The night air was crisp as Harit stepped outside, carrying Ren in his arms. Sirens wailed in the distance—Runa had ensured the authorities were en route.

Ren's eyes opened slightly, a weak smile forming. "Harit… you really came…"

"I'll always come," Harit said, holding him tighter. "No one touches you, Ren. Not now, not ever."

Ren let out a small laugh despite his pain. "You're… overprotective…"

Harit's lips curved into a rare, soft smile. "Maybe. But you're worth it."

---

Ren Family Arrived

Ren's family arrived moments later, rushing to him, worry etched on every face.

"We've got him now," Harit said firmly, glancing back at the warehouse. "Jun's going to pay for this."

Runa nodded. "Police are securing the area. Everything's being recorded. Jun won't slip away this time."

Harit glanced down at Ren, who was slowly regaining strength. "You're safe now. Just… rest."

Ren's hand twitched slightly, brushing against Harit's. "I… knew you'd save me," he murmured.

Harit's chest tightened. "Always," he said softly.
