Chapter 6 - Promise 1

"Master… what would you want me to do for you?"

The boy's voice cracked, weak and trembling. He could barely lift his head.

Morgan walked toward him slowly, each step echoing through the cold metal room. When he reached the boy, he crouched down and patted his head gently, the same way someone would touch a pet.

"It's time you eliminate a threat," Morgan said with a calm smile.

The boy's lips curled into a faint smirk.

"Will you keep your promise, sir?"

Morgan nodded.

"Proudly."

The boy lowered his head again, shadows hiding half his face. But that smirk stayed. Something was waking inside him.

Meanwhile in Clockspire, Klaus stepped out of the hospital doors with bandages still wrapped around his waist. The air felt colder than usual, or maybe it was just the anxiety crawling up his spine. He didn't stop—not even for a second. He ran through the crowded streets, shoving past people while holding his side.

"Excuse me—have you seen a young-looking man with white hair, ocean-steel eyes, and a sense of style?" he asked a random woman.

She raised a brow.

"Sounds to me like you have a crush on an imaginary being."

Klaus didn't even argue. He just kept running.

He passed by the gates of Fecality Labs, slowing down without meaning to. His heart thudded. His mind replayed the scene over and over—the impossible speed, the fire, the smile.

What did I even see that day?

Are there living deities on this earth?

Or maybe I'm just dreaming… but my wound is real. So how come—?

His thoughts twisted, tangled, refusing to settle.

Then a voice cut through everything—smooth, calm, too close.

"I intend that you're looking for me, aren't you?"

Klaus froze like ice.

He turned around slowly.

There he was…

Leaning casually against a streetlamp like he had been waiting the whole time.

White hair glowing under the afternoon light.

Eyes calm, sharp, terrifying.

Suit spotless.

Expression soft as if he found the entire world amusing.

"Leonardo."

A smile rested on his face, small but dangerous, like he'd already predicted every move Klaus made.

Klaus's mouth went dry. His breath stuttered.

"You… you're—"

He couldn't even finish.

Leonardo just watched him. Not threatening, not angry just watching.

Klaus swallowed hard.

"What are you?" he finally whispered.

Leonardo simply looked at Klaus the same way someone looks at an insect they're deciding whether to save or crush.
