"Holy shit!"
Ethan's eyes sharpened instantly, "Where the hell did this mage come from? Could it be that bunch from Peace Organization, and they've already found out I am drawing a formation array here?"
Without another word, Ethan immediately took out his Invisibility Cloak from his ring and threw it over himself.
He didn't want to end up like that liquid beast, struck dead by a single bolt of lightning.
Crackle!
After being struck a second time, the liquid beast finally fell apart completely. Its body then turned into a pool of actual liquid, slowly absorbed into the dry red earth.
But the Grand Mage glanced at it, then immediately recited a short incantation. Afterward, he pointed his old vine staff at the spot where the liquid beast had died and said, "Purify!"
A flash of white light and the black liquid on the ground vanished in an instant, turning into a pool of clear water.
After the white-bearded mage had dealt with the monster before him, he turned his head to look at the spatial gate within the formation array. His expression as he stared at it was somewhat grave.
'Could it be... that there is something else about to come out of that spatial gate?'
"You peace dogs just won't go away, always biting at my heels. What do you want?"
The black hole of the spatial gate twisted into a mouth, and as the voice came through, the gate even warped into various shapes.
From a distance, it looked as if it wasn't a spatial gate at all, but a giant mouth floating in midair.
"You crossed the line, so naturally, death is the only sentence," The white-bearded mage pointed his staff straight at the spatial gate and said, "I suggest you stop sending your minions over to die. Otherwise, I won't mind sending every last one of them straight to the true hell."
"Hehehe~"
The spatial gate let out a eerie laugh, "Crossed the line? Wasn't it someone on your side who opened the door and invited us over? Now that we've come, you say we've crossed the line. Who's really overstepping here? Don't you know that yourself?"
"Hmph! The vermin on our side will naturally be dealt with by us. That goes without saying," The white-bearded mage said coldly, "And besides, if it weren't for you using those petty tricks of 'equivalent exchange' to lure our mages down the wrong path, we wouldn't have lost so many geniuses."
As he spoke, the white-bearded mage hurled a bolt of lightning straight at the spatial gate.
BOOM!
The lightning exploded directly inside the spatial gate.
But the spatial gate seemed to be something that could absorb everything, the lightning flashed by and vanished into the darkness that even light couldn't penetrate.
"Oh, pretty short-tempered, aren't you?", The spatial gate seemed to shrink considerably, but the entity using it as a mouth didn't seem harmed in the slightest, and even spoke in a half-teasing tone, "But since you gave me a gift, I'll give you a little one in return."
"What are you trying to do!"
The white-bearded mage's eyes became sharp, as if sensing something was wrong.
But the presence inside the spatial gate said nothing more. In that instant, the gate rapidly expanded, and then...
BOOM!!
The entire spatial gate exploded, and from within, a massive amount of black liquid suddenly sprayed out.
That liquid was probably part of the liquid beastm
"Protect!"
The moment the white-bearded mage saw the liquid appear, he instantly cast a protective barrier.
A white barrier sprang from the tip of the white-bearded mage's staff, blooming like a white flower, but from its appearance to covering the white-bearded man's entire body, it was still a moment too slow.
The white-bearded man looked down at his foot, now stained black, and his expression changed.
Because... that black substance seemed to be spreading rapidly up his thigh. This was probably the terrifying nature of the liquid beast.
"Sever!"
The white-bearded man seemed to know just how terrifying these liquid beasts were.
His other hand immediately drew a short staff from the sleeve of his robe, and in an instant, a long, thin vine grew from the tip of that staff.
The vine was so straight it looked more like a piece of wire than a plant.
The next second, the white-bearded man actually cut the vine straight across his thigh, where the black liquid had touched.
"AHHH!"
The white-bearded man let out a scream, and a leg stained red with blood hit the ground with a thud.
But in the very instant he used the vine staff to sever his own thigh, Ethan noticed in shock that at the root of the severed leg, countless tree vines burst forth in an instant, and they twisted together and grew into a new leg.
Only now, the leg had gone from being made of human flesh to being made of tree vines.
