Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Leaving the Cave

"Wait, someone's coming."

Morax hurriedly held Rimuru and hid behind a large rock.

Just then, the door slowly opened, and sunlight from outside shone through the gap.

"Damn, why is there so much dust? I'm choking to death."

"Isn't that obvious? Look at this door—it's completely covered in rust, and many of the patterns on it have corroded."

"This cave hasn't had anyone come here for several hundred years. Having this much dust is very normal."

"Alright, stop complaining."

"We should still be careful. This cave isn't safe."

"The client said no one has come to this cave for several hundred years. It shouldn't be that bad."

"Don't cry when you encounter monsters later."

What came into view were two men and one woman. From their attire and conversation, they should be adventurers of this world. Those two men were wearing armor and holding greatswords—they should be warriors. As for the woman, she was wearing what looked like mage robes—she should be a priest or magician.

Morax was not at all unfamiliar with these three people. After all, these three had quite a connection with the Rimuru. The Rimuru's destined person, Shizue Izawa—Miss Shizu had teamed up with these three, although they were just dead weight.

But although these three were weak, the identity of this woman among them was not simple. She was the daughter of Duke Elalude of the Magic Dynasty Sarion—definitely a great noble. Not to mention her father was a daughter-doting maniac. Later, just because of some rumors he heard from somewhere saying his daughter was abducted by the Rimuru, he ran directly to the Rimuru's doorstep and was about to cast a forbidden magic spell. If his daughter hadn't arrived in time, the plot might really have included an Elven Kingdom vs. Demon Federation war.

"Alright, stop arguing. Don't forget our mission."

"Right, right, right. Quickly activate the magic. We're about to start exploring."

Then, under the effect of magic, the three disappeared from their sight.

Seeing this scene, Rimuru was about to speak whenMorax covered his mouth.

"Don't speak. They haven't left. It should be because of some concealment magic—they've gone invisible."

Morax whispered to Rimuru.

"Huh,Morax, how did you know?"

Rimuru asked curiously.

"Use your magic sense to detect, and you'll know."

Rimuru deployed magic sense, and sure enough, there were three energy bodies containing magic essence in front of them. But why were these three energy bodies so small? Even the weakest monster they encountered in the cave had more magic essence than these three.

"Morax,Morax, these three people seem to be..."

Rimuru was about to say something.

"Right, these three aren't strong, but that doesn't mean there's no one behind them. Besides, we just arrived in this world—it's not appropriate to stir up disputes and invite trouble."

Morax said to Rimuru.

"Right, right.Morax is right."

After hearing this, Rimuru nodded repeatedly.

"Moreover, listening to their conversation, they came here because they received a commission from someone. Otherwise, why would someone suddenly come to a cave that's been untouched for hundreds of years? As for what the commission is, I guess it's related to Veldora."

Morax said contemplatively.

"But why would it be related to Veldora?"

At this moment, Rimuru asked.

"Don't you think it's too coincidental? Veldora just disappeared, and people broke into the cave. Also, didn't you say that your stomach is an independent space that outsiders can't sense? That means outsiders must have discovered that Veldora disappeared, or rather, died."

Morax explained to Rimuru.

"So they came here because of Veldora."

Only then did Rimuru have a sudden realization.

"Nine times out of ten, this is the possibility. Otherwise, who would be idle enough to come to a cave where no one has been for hundreds of years? There must be some force in this world monitoring Veldora. After all, from Veldora's experiences, people regard him as an evil dragon—moreover, an evil dragon with powerful strength. Even if he's sealed, there will certainly be people watching and monitoring him. Look, how long has it been since you swallowed Veldora into your stomach, and people have already come? Veldora said that since he was sealed, no one has appeared in this cave, so I deduce that the arrival of these people is absolutely inseparable from Veldora."

Morax said contemplatively.

"That makes sense."

Rimuru showed an expression of understanding.

"Alright, once they've gone far away, let's also prepare to go out."

Morax suggested.

"Good, good, good. Let's hurry up and leave."

Looking at Rimuru's eager expression,Morax seriously suspected that if he hadn't held her down earlier, she would have already jumped out.

Watching those three humans slowly walk beyond the magic sensing range.

"Morax, let's go."

Rimuru jumped out ofMorax's arms and urged.

Seeing this appearance,Morax could only smile helplessly.

Rimuru hurriedly hopped toward the doorway to welcome her own freedom.

"It seems that in this life, because of the butterfly effect, the Rimuru has also become somewhat bolder. No, it should be said she's gained a bit of innocence and liveliness and lost some steadiness. But that's also true—after all, she changed from male to female in her previous life. What can't change after that?"

"Morax, what are you still doing? Hurry up, or I won't wait for you."

At this moment, Rimuru called out.

"Coming."

Seeing this,Morax hurriedly followed.

After leaving the cave,Morax finally felt the breath of sunlight. Not to mention Rimuru—evenMorax, after staying in such a cave for over ten days, couldn't stand it anymore.

"We finally came out. I was almost suffocated to death in that cave."

Rimuru complained while breathing fresh air.

Looking at the dense trees before them and the many plantsMorax had never seen before, and feeling the fresh air he had never experienced—

"So this is the Jura Great Forest. Also the place where the plot begins. The future Tempest will be built here."

Morax thought to himself. It could be said this was the Rimuru's place of origin.

"Rimuru, stop resting here. Let's hurry and find a safe place to rest. Otherwise, we might be discovered by those people behind us."

Morax said to Rimuru.

"Alright."

Rimuru responded and turned to jump intoMorax's arms.

"You carry me. I don't want to move."

Looking at Rimuru's lazy appearance,Morax just smiled indulgently and didn't say anything more. After all, he didn't know when those people inside would come out or if there would be other people coming. For safety's sake, it was better to leave this place first.

Morax held Rimuru and walked into the forest.
