Chapter 127 - Chapter 115: The Broken Chessboard, The Godfather, and The Waiting Room

[ Location: Hogwarts Castle ][ Date: Time Skip (November 1993 to June 1994) ]

With Peter Pettigrew locked in a high-security Ministry cell and Sirius Black officially cleared of all charges, Year 3 at Hogwarts became something incredibly rare.

It was totally boring.

Since I kidnapped a massive chunk of the Dementor guards and scared the rest away, there were no ghost attacks and harry didn't get targeted on the Quidditch pitch.

Gryffindor won the House Cup effortlessly.

I spent the next seven months treating Hogwarts like an all-inclusive magic resort.

I hit the library, speed-reading every advanced spell book I could get my hands on to level up my Magic Abilities.

I spent my nights practicing my Animagus form in the Forbidden Forest, flying around as a massive, blazing Phoenix to burn off extra energy and collecting herbs and finding any rare magical creature.

Shikamaru, meanwhile, slept through ninety percent of his classes and still managed to pass the final exams just by guessing.

"I had to write three feet of parchment on Goblin Rebellions," Shikamaru complained one afternoon, lying on the floor of the Gryffindor common room. "Why do I care about angry bankers with swords? It's a massive drag. I just want to watch the clouds."

"Because history repeats itself, Shika," Hermione lectured him from an armchair, surrounded by towering stacks of books.

Ron walked in, holding a tiny, hyperactive, incredibly noisy owl that was zooming around his head like a furry tennis ball.

He bought it in Hogsmeade with the heavy gold Galleons I gave him.

"Pigwidgeon is broken!" Ron yelled, trying to catch the bird. "He won't stop hooting! He's worse than Scabbers!"

"Don't mention the rat," Harry muttered, shuddering as he looked up from his homework. "It still makes me sick knowing that guy was sleeping in our room."

"Well, you don't have to worry about rats anymore, Harry," I smiled, tossing a chocolate frog at him. "You're moving out."

By the time June rolled around, the weather was warm, the exams were over, and everyone was packing their trunks.

[ Location: Headmaster's Office ][ Date: June 15th, 1994 - Last Day of Term ]

"Sherbet Lemon?"

Albus Dumbledore held out a small silver bowl of yellow candies and his piercing blue eyes were staring at me over his half-moon glasses.

He didn't look angry, but the grandfatherly twinkle was completely missing. It had been replaced by cold, calculating suspicion.

"No thanks, Professor. Sugar ruins the teeth," I said, kicking back in the plush chair across from his desk. "You wanted to see me before the train leaves?"

"I did, Vivan," Dumbledore said softly, setting the bowl down. "This has been a very... unusual year. An innocent man was freed and a dead traitor was caught inside my castle and a massive number of immortal Dementors vanished into thin air."

"Crazy weather we're having," I replied smoothly.

My Occlumency shields were locked down tight , So he couldn't prove a single thing.

Dumbledore sighed.

He leaned back in his chair, folding his hands together.

"Harry informed me that he will not be returning to his aunt and uncle's house this summer," Dumbledore said, shifting the topic to his real concern. "He is moving into a secure house in London with Sirius Black."

"That's fantastic news," I smirked. "Harry finally gets a real family. A godfather who actually cares about him and he's out of that abusive muggle closet."

"It is," Dumbledore agreed slowly, his eyes narrowing. "But the ancient blood wards at his aunt's house kept him hidden from the dark forces of this world without them, he is vulnerable."

I dropped the polite student act and leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees, and looked the greatest wizard in the world right in the eye.

"Professor, I respect you as a wizard," I said coldly. "But your master plan to keep Harry locked in a miserable, abusive house just so he stays isolated and easy to control is officially canceled."

Dumbledore stiffened and his hand twitched slightly toward the Elder Wand on his desk.

"Sirius Black loves that kid," I continued, letting my heavy, dominant aura leak into the room just enough to make the silver instruments on the desk rattle. "He's filthy rich, he's fiercely protective, and he isn't going to let anyone—not even you—use his godson as a sacrificial chess piece and you lost your favourite pawn, Professor."

Dumbledore stared at me for a long time.

He felt the heavy, dangerous weight of my magic pressing against the air in the room. He knew he couldn't push me without starting a fight.

"You play a very dangerous game, Vivan " Dumbledore whispered, his voice grave. "You bend reality to fit your desires without considering the consequences and I only hope that when the true darkness returns, you are standing on the right side."

"I'm on my own side," I winked, standing up and adjusting my collar. "Have a great summer, Professor and try to get some sun."

I walked out of the office whistling, leaving Dumbledore to stare at his broken chessboard.

[ Location: King's Cross Station - Platform 9 3/4 ][ Time: 4:00 PM ]

The Hogwarts Express hissed to a final stop in London.

Students poured onto the crowded platform, greeted by hugging parents.

Harry practically sprinted off the train and waiting for him near a brick pillar was Sirius Black.

He didn't look like an insane prisoner anymore.

He wore sharp, expensive clothes, his dark hair was trimmed, and he had a massive, genuine grin on his face.

"Sirius!" Harry yelled, dropping his heavy trunk and hugging his godfather tightly.

"Ready to go home, Harry?" Sirius laughed, messing up Harry's hair and looking at him with pure pride.

Sirius looked up and made eye contact with me.

He gently pushed Harry aside for a second and walked over.

"Vivan" Sirius said, extending a hand.

I shook it, his grip was firm.

"Harry told me what happened," Sirius said, his voice dropping low so the crowd couldn't hear. "He told me you were the one who dragged Pettigrew into Dumbledore's office and you gave me my life back, kid. I owe you everything and if you ever need gold, a place to hide, or a favor... the House of Black answers to you."

"Keep your gold, Sirius. " I smirked, slipping my hands into my pockets. "Just keep harry happy. He's had a rough life."

"I will," Sirius promised, clapping me on the shoulder.

Hermione walked up to me, dragging her heavy trunk and she looked a little sad, biting her bottom lip.

"You're leaving?" she asked softly.

"Yeah. Heading back to the States," I said.

"Will you write?" she asked. "The magical slate you gave me last year broke."

"I'll do you one better," I smiled.

I reached into my inventory and pulled out a brand-new Dimensional Comm-Link.

I shaped it to look like a sleek, silver makeup mirror and handed it to her.

"Keep this in your pocket," I told her. "It's basically a magical video phone and it runs on intent. If you ever need me, just open it, picture my face, and say my name and I'll answer."

Hermione's face lit up instantly.

She threw her arms around my neck and hugged me tight.

"Thank you, Vivan," she whispered into my jacket. "For everything you did this year and you're a great friend."

"I'm the best," I chuckled, patting her back. "Stay out of trouble, Granger and don't read too many books."

"Impossible," she laughed, pulling away and blushing a deep pink.

She waved as she walked toward her muggle parents.

Shikamaru walked up to me, rubbing his eyes aggressively.

"Are we finally done playing wizard school?" Shikamaru yawned.

"We're done," I said.

Ding!

A gold window appeared in the air in front of me.

The busy, noisy train station faded away.

CRACK.

My boots hit the hardwood floor of my bedroom.

The warm London breeze was instantly replaced by the cool, crisp Indiana spring air.

I stood alone in my room and the heavy trunk landed next to me with a thud.

'I bet Shikamaru just face-planted directly onto his tatami mat in Konoha,'

I chuckled to myself, dropping my wand on the desk. 'He's probably already snoring.'

I looked out my window.

The grass on my lawn was perfectly green and everything was exactly as I left it.

'Wait a second,' my brain clicked. 'Before I went to Hogwarts... I threw the Volturi vampires into the Upside Down.'

I had been gone for nine months.

'For them, I literally just stepped through the portal five seconds ago.'

I laughed out loud.

I slashed my hand through the air.

A glowing green portal tore open in the center of my room, revealing the dark, toxic ash of the Upside Down.

I stepped through.

[ Location: The Upside Down - Mirror Frostwell Lawn ]

I walked out onto the rotting grass of my dimensional kingdom.

Jane, Alec, Felix, and Demetri were exactly where I left them.

They were on their knees in the toxic dirt, completely surrounded by a thousand snarling Demodogs.

Right behind them, my massive, acid-dripping Basilisk was coiled around my house, hissing down at the sparkling vampires.

The Volturi Guard looked absolutely terrified.

Felix, the giant bruiser, was pressing his face into the dirt to avoid looking at the giant snake. Jane was shaking violently, clutching her bleeding eyes from the psychic attack she suffered right before I left.

To them, they had just watched me turn into a fiery demon, beat a cosmic god to death with its own arm, and mutate an entire dimension.

I looked down at the terrified immortal vampires.

'Let's test this new perk.'

I just activated my new Fear Aura.

The air on the lawn instantly turned to freezing, biting ice.

A wave of pure, soul-crushing despair and terror washed over the vampires and it felt exactly like forty starving Dementors were standing right behind them.

Jane trembled, her red eyes wide with absolute, helpless panic.

She bowed her head so fast her chin hit her chest.

"Now," I smiled, letting my eyes flash a dangerous, glowing violet. "Where were we?"
