Right before we were set to leave, Lorelei walked up to me. Her family needed investment for a project, and she'd caught wind of tonight's Randal family gathering.
She wanted to take a shot at finding backing, but she lacked an invitation. Could I bring her as my plus-one?
I nearly turned her down, but the hopeful gleam in Lorelei's gaze made me cave. "Fine."
Eliza studied Lorelei with icy indifference. "You'll be hunting for investors solo tonight, Lorelei. If Reed gets involved, everyone will think it's a Gould venture.
"When they figure out during contract talks that we were never planning to invest, it'll be messy for all parties."
Ever since Eliza discovered Jenifer's official status as the Zach heir, her warmth toward Lorelei had completely evaporated.
When people pressed about Lorelei and my wedding timeline, Eliza consistently fed them the same line: Jenifer was blocking the divorce.
