The guy immediately stepped back, looking sheepish. "My apologies, Mr. Zach. Really didn't mean to interrupt."
After witnessing that exchange, everything became obvious. Aiden had zero interest in schmoozing. The crowd instantly shifted their attention to Rafael, eager to curry favor.
Lorelei picked up on the commotion quickly and glanced over, catching sight of Jenifer at the heart of the gathering, with everyone practically worshipping at her feet.
A sharp pang of envy twisted through Lorelei's chest.
"Reed, look—isn't that Jenifer?" Lorelei whispered, pulling on my sleeve. "Maybe we should go over and greet her?"
I followed Lorelei's gaze and spotted Jenifer surrounded by a sea of faces, all vying for her attention—mostly single men with deep pockets.
My jaw tightened, and before I could think it through, I was already striding straight toward Jenifer.
Lorelei picked up her pace, staying right behind me.
